I agree.
If the world was like this then it would be a different place.

Great vid, thanks for sharing

Few years back the equivalent did - the everton 'keeper was down injured and a cross came over to the opposing centre forward, who promptly caught the ball instead of heading it into the unguarded net so the 'keeper could get treated. The man, take a bow Paulo di Canio cool

Yes I recall di Canio's act as well and another one by Robbie Fowler of Liverpool admitting it wasn't a penalty after he had been awarded one.

YouTube has lots of examples. Here is one of the many smile

Fair Play

There are real sportsman in every sport, they just rarely get credit for it!

Another reminder that the next generation aren't all knobbers, and the world can be passed over to their care!

I agree but would suggest that the more money involved in a sport, the less likely we are to see evidence of it frown

Each year there is the BBC screens the sports personality of the year awards. They generally tend to recognise the winners in sport, or those that have been involved with a sport for some time. Perhaps if we were to have a national sportsmanship awards on TV we could better recognise sportsmanship, it may even have a positive impact and inspire some to behave better.

We Brits often like to think of themselves as masters of fair play and regularly suggest our sense of fair play limits our sporting success. Unfortunately you rarely see much evidence to support this claim frown

Mostly true, but there are exceptions.

There's a great compilation video of Lionel Messi being kicked to high heaven by various defenders and staying on his feet when he could have (and most players would have) gone to ground and won a penalty.

I'm on my phone so linking to it is a PITA but if you search something like 'Messi doesn't dive' on YouTube, you'll find it.

Perhaps not quite the act of sportsmanship as some of these other videos but I think he's a fantastic role model in a sport littered with Prima Donnas.
