Hi folks.

General question really, and I certainly don't want to offend anyone. But when have most coupes had it?

I've always wanted one but now that I can afford it, most have seem to have done over 100k. Even if diligently cared for they must be in their final throws of life surely?

I'd just like to know what the expert buyers would do? Not worry about mileage or age as long as it was in good condition?

TIA

Do not worry yourself about mileage, the condition is the most important thing.

The majority of cars (the 20v and 20vt included) will do 150-200k but most dont get the basics like an oil change when they start to age. A well cared for car that you continue to care for will last at least another 5 years.

I have not bought a coupe with less than 110k on so far (and its three now).

and I would say that most coupe's will need some major tlc at 15 years (I reckon).

A Coupes' only had it really, if it's not been looked after or badly crashed.

As you're aware, they are older cars now, so expect things to wear out on them.

Bodywork side of things, most are generally still in good condition. It's not often you see a rotten one. Even if you did, it would just be in usual places you'd expect from a car that age.

The engines are quite good, especially if looked after and serviced at regular intervals - even an oil and filter change will do if you're skint.

Italian cars are a bit more critical regarding oil levels, than a lot of other cars. They like oil and shouldn't be run low on oil, unlike, say, a Fiesta, that would survive being run low on oil for months, without damage.

A car with more than 100K will have likely to have had the bigger jobs done already, such as turbo, clutch, etc.

Lack of oil and cambelt breaking is the biggest failure, so at least make sure the cambelt and auxillary belts have been done on your future Coupe, or budget around £500 to get them done asap, if there's no record.

A standard car, with some history would be a good car to go for, especially if over 100k.

Most of us on here are over 100k mileage wise smile

Interesting question chinny

In my eyes, Never, not unless they're twisted wrecks that are catB thus must be destroyed frown

I changed careers to save these cars, so many have/are being dismantled just because they're worth more in parts then a whole, it's criminal, but one day it will stop and there valve and worth will stabilise.

Long live the fiat Coupe laugh

Welcome to the site. I bought mine two years ago from an enthusiast who'd looked after it. It had 80k on the clock. Now it has 110k and still running as strong as when I bought it. As others have said if they've been cared for then they are reliable. Mine had the belts and clutch done before I bought it but it is still running the standard turbo and has no signs of smoke, which I'm happy about!
