Hello again everyone, as some of you may have read a few weeks ago i put a deposit down on a coupe 20v turbo and on saturday i went to pick it up... Its a red R-reg with a few modifications (part of the reason i bought this coop was because of the mods as i would have had to spend a fair old wedge to get a standard one to this stage) The list of mods so far is :

Garret GT28rsr roller bearing turbo
Induction kit
Apexi AVCR boost controller
Camereli (is that how its spelt ???) front leather seats
Powerflow exhaust system (no cat)
Chipped ECU (cant remember the name of it)
Apex lowering springs
Air/fuel ratio gauge (in place of dash clock)

I have a few plans in line for the coop already, first things first i have booked it in with Rog at power italia to have a health check and an oil change, some other things on the list include :

* = Have these lined up

Rear leather seats *
20vt Plus instruments dials *
Front mount intercooler
Straight induction pipe
Samco water and boost hoses
Le skirts and bumper extensions (either that or zender)
A live map by Flea

The fuel cap laquer is peeling, as are the mirrors and the red paint is fading slightly in places so i will be giving it a thorough going over with some techniques ive been reading up on recently, hopefully it should look as good as new soon...

Enough about the car now though, how does it go ???

When i picked the car up and i first put my foot down on the way home (i didnt rag the [censored] out of it when i test drove it) i was amazed, it is very fast, i cant wait to get a front mount intercooler and a live map / turn the boost up, currently its running 1 bar and it puts a huge smile on my face every time i drive it... With regards to power delivery it pulls from quite low down (about 2500rpm) right through to the redline and at about 5000rpm it seems to get an extra boost (maybe the cams) is this normal on other coupe's or will the delivery be smoothed out with the live map ??? Either way i love it... The only real gripe i have with the car is that it sometimes feels a bit wollowey in the handling, a bit soft on the suspension (even though you can feel bumps alot) its hard to describe, i think i will start looking for a good adjustable damping setup...

Pics will be added soon... love

sounds good to me, but one mod i would consider making is a brake update for that power (if it hasn't been done). there are some good bargains in the Group Buy section that Nigel started for discs and pads - in a car this fast, it's useful to be able to stop.

welcome to the fold, hope you enjoy it as much as i do mine

Thats one thing i was going to ask opinions on actually, what brake discs and pads are a good combo for the standard brembo calipers ??? The pads are looking fairly low so i will be doing them soon anyways, while im at it i will get some HEL stainless lines fitted too... Cheers for the comments mate, ill get some pics uploaded soon...

have a look at that first post, says all you need to know. there are other brands that are good, but plenty of coop owners use these as they are proven and we get a good discount love

Thanks for the links / info mate, very usefull stuff... Also has anyone had any experience of Koni sport suspension kits on the coop ??? of all the non coilover kits that i have had before on my Uno Turbo's the koni's were by far the best, i was just wondering what they were like on the coop ???

Has it got a strut brace fitted?

If not, fit one and your wallowy handling should improve.

Forgot to add that, yes it already has a front strut brace fitted mate, it also has bilstien shocks too... Dont get me wrong, the car feels nice, its just i would like more control over the damping so i can get it just how i want it... Correct me if im wrong but the bilstiens arent damping adjustable are they ???

confused

Funny you should say that Matt, the tracking is a bit out at the moment, the previous owner had the tie rod ends changed recently and didnt get the tracking done afterwards so that is on the list of things to do...

Stan - Ill be checking the tyre pressures this weekend, what are the ideal pressures you guys usually go for ??? 32 front 34 rear ???

smile

39 psi front 32 psi rear
the tracking will make a big differance and they track rod being changed will have knocked it out. had mine changed and killed the front tyres in 3k!
