Had two ten year oldish boys bow and salute the car at a Sainsburys last week. "Nice car" one said. A guy at a petrol station approached and asked what it was and voiced his approval too. I've missed that.

I've been asked if mine is an Aston Martin 'cause it's dark green I suppose.
Also was giving mates a lift home who asked if it was a Porsche... I enjoyed that one.

I gave a guy a lift home from work in the Coupe one time, and the following day picked him up in the Spider. He asked 'Where's the Pininfarina today?' Made me chuckle. I guess he'd just read the dashboard and assumed that was its name

was back at the body shop yesterday and some bloke was standing there waiting for a quote. he said " there's still some money about even in this recession" i said "what do you mean?" and he said "that blue car there, how can people afford to have those, let alone keep them running? i'd love one, whatever it is, but i cant ever see it happening"
he was on about my coupé, i didn't like to break his dream....

I was in Maccy D's in cardiff on weds, when a yellow 16vt rolled in. There was a bloke, his mrs and I assume their daughter at the table opposite to me and they saw it roll in. The bloke said "hey look, a ferrari", his mrs said "Hmmmm I don't think it is..." and deliberated for a while.
Perhaps I shol dput this in a "wifey, is that ferrari?" as she was more clued up!
To even think it could have been one makes this car special I think!

Well i went to look at an ST3 the other day and the salesman said "prime candidate for the scrapage deal this" At which point I kindly pointed out that the focus looked like it had been in an accident and how come the paint on my 12 year old le was in better shape than his 8 month old ST

I wish I'd heard what the mum said to the child... but as I got into the car today at the supermarket a young mum and her 5-6 year old daughter walked past.
All i heard was the mother say Porsche (obviously the girls name), that's the car.....
I didn't hear the rest, but the little girl just stood beside her mums fiat panda and beamed at me (and the coop) as I pulled out and drove past.

A family hatchback with the lines of a Hyundai and the lines & personality of Pauline Quirk to a sports car with the personality & lines of a "Bella Donna" like Isabella Rossalini?" Asked whether I would get the same "buzz" simply fuelling the ST? Undoing the cap and imagining I am in the pit lane at Le Mans? (while others stare!). Sitting in the car and just admiring the dash and that Pininfarina emblem? Will I get that with a Ford? Even an RS? (Speaking as an ex-owner of an RS1600i, RS Turbo, RS Focus). After all I would say, Who ever grows up wishing they will one day own a Ford? Then hit im with the "In Italy no small boy" comment! As the saying goes: "If I have to explain it then you simply will not understand".

Had a great comment just Was in the back alley working on my bonnet release cable problem with my dad. Two kids who I would say were about 10ish rode past on their bikes, and I heard one say to the other - "Whooaaa...you see that car?!" 2 minutes later they ride past again - "thats a sick car!". A few minutes later they come back again... "Excuse me...what sort of car is this?" My dad says "this?...oh its a Ferrari". We both burst out laughing as quietly as we can... the kid then replies "A ferrari?...wooooow!". I laugh every time I think of it.

Incident 1: While up in Brisbane at a shopping centre, a bloke with his family got out of their car. The family goes one direction, but the bloke strolls past my Coupe, then around it before joining the family. I wonder if he was any the wiser?
Incident 2: Met the neighbours across the street last week, and the wife said her husband had been wondering what the new red car at my place was - she said he thought it might have been a Ferrari.
In the end though, it doesn't matter what others think, we all bought our Coupes because of what they are, not what others think they are.

Whenver it's sunny and I've giving it a proper clean and wax I get kids walking past saying nice things about the car, I play it cool but I'm grinning like a cat inside It seems we all know a good car when we're young - so what goes wrong with so many people when they get old and end up buying sensible Corsas and Fiestas?

Thought I'd revive this thread. You're right - kids know a good looking car when they see one. I work at a private school - you get the picture I'm sure: carpark full of porsches, astons, jags, beemers, etc. etc. every night. Makes me laugh then when a large proportion of the children walk past my coupe on the way home and say how much they like it/want one - little realising it costs less than daddy's front discs and pads

I parked the coop up by a boating lake in my local town a couple of weeks ago and a 20ish y/o and her mum walked past the car (I was sat about 10 yards away), the mum goes "It says Fiat on it" and the (fit) daughter said "it can't be, its too nice"
Backhanded compliment I guess........
