Yes, you may not be insured if I you give a false statement Any change to factory spec is considered a modification, stainless exhaust, bodykit, different wheels, chip, strutbrace, , even addition of leather interior, uprated stereo etc etc. What has been done to your car?

One of my colleagues takes great delight in telephoning insurance companies from the roadside to confirm that they are aware of the stainless exhaust, the aftermarket alloy wheels, the strut braces, etc etc and, surprise, surprise, I'd say he has a "hit rate" of around 90% in discovering undeclared modifications. As stated above, this means the insurance company then responding that the car is no longer insured with them and it's then simply a matter of calling in the tow truck........
That's quite an alarm ringer of a tale Stan. But I have to say, 'What a f n jobs-worth

Well.... maybe I was lucky. Had a electric blue plus 20VT which was modified loads!! Intercooler, strut brace, 3' straight exhaust, remapped ecu, uprated turbo. And it got broken into/written off. They didnt ask any questions what so ever and i got the payout from them. Just deny all knowledge of knowing it has been modded if you ask me

It is very rare an insurance company will cancel or void a policy for you not mentioning modifications at inception, the same rule applies regarding not mentioning points on licence, extra NCB and undisclosed previous accidents etc. They would usually still deal with your claim but would charge you a higher revised premium based upon what your policy should have cost you if you had told the truth from the start. Hope this helps a bit
