A year ago exactly I bought my first Fiat Coupe, a 16v Turbo in need of some serious work, the whole thing didn't turn out so well and ended up just sitting there needing a crankshaft and plenty of other bits. I kept keeping an eye out for another one to turn up and then last week I get a text to look up a 16v N/A advertised on a website with a snapped timing belt.

It looked good so I went to view it and was fairly gobsmacked with it, it was spotless, no rust, not dents perfect paintwork. Masses of service history including a new engine in 2004, all in all €12,000 worth of reciepts from the last 8 years. And a very good price too. So what the hell, I bought it, a few hours work and the head is off and it looks like 8 bent exhaust valves, all the inlet valves look ok so shouldn't be too much trouble. Finally things are starting to go my way.

Here's a few pic's of it

And before a wash

The interior which is perfect bar the bright red bits

After a quick wash and ready for some work

After a few hours with some help from Daddy and a friend (Legend)

And finally for the damage

It seems as if the inlet valves are non interference, there are grooves in the pistons for the inlet valves so I presume this is what saved them and despite bending every exhaust valve the pistons aren't damaged and neither are the cylinders.

Plan for the week now is for my father to get the valves and put them in during the week when I'm away and then try and re assemble it next weekend. Hopefully it all works out laugh
