A mate of mine recently took the plunge and picked up his first Coupé. It’s a P reg Portofino Blue 20vT with a little over 88,000 miles on the clock. As far as we knew, it had a Bailey DV26 and a K&N air filter. The seller (who was selling on behalf of his son) said it also had an aftermarket chip of some kind, but didn’t know what one. It was running up to 1.2bar and see-sawing a little.
Since then I have fitted my old ArmVal PRV to sort the see-sawing and set it to 1.1bar. It has had a full service at PowerItalia and, other than some corrosion on the oil cooler pipes, it passed the Health Check with flying colours. Good compression on all cylinders too.
Here’s the graph;
214bhp, 225lbs/ft Now it’s clearly running LEAN right across the rev band; dangerously so. Leighton has had a look at the chart before and thinks it might be a problem that even a remap couldn’t sort. So as RockSteadyEddie is booked in for a Fleamap on 4th July, we really need to rule out any mechanical issues that might be causing this.
So what do we think people?
I’ve suggested that it could be;
-Knackered standard fuel pump?
-Blockedinjectors?
-Blockage somewhere in fuel lines?
-Faulty sensor somewhere?
Anyone got any ideas twhat could be, or had a similar experience. I've never seena coop this lean before!
