wow that has been hanging around gathering dust, must be one of the very last as they stopped building them Q3 2000.
Looks a nice example - interesting to see what it makes

Quite simply, wow. All it needs is to be Pearl White and it'd be the holy grail of Coupes.

Yep. And if he signs a reciept rather than his 'friend' who owns the car, but is too busy to come down to the house for the sale, then the buyer in new ownership holds no legality !.
Extremely good looking car though, alas a week too late for me as I picked my Plus up Saturday.

Does seem to sell a lot of cars for friends doesn't he! His feedback isn't great either. Looks a good car but I'd be tempted to go over it using a comb with the finest of teeth!

Looks nice I remember when I had my old Renault 5GT Turbo it was the last one off the factory line and was in a dealers showroom unregisterd for 6 months. So when it was bought it went on a K plate the only one known when I was a member of the R5GTTOC. Anyway when I sold it 2 years ago I got way over its value due to that. Was worth £2-2.5 ended up getting £4.2. I think this will go the same.

The seller has been kind enough to give me some details and the chassis number given puts an Eper build date of November 1999 on it. The lady owner wont be around at exchange of monies time as she is away on holiday, and she owns(ed) it for four years.
Hope that helps the interested, all thbings considered it really does look smart.

Humm > On a 51 plate yes the vehicle is subject to emissions based VED, so will deviate higher in the future. Even though its a 1999 build. So his description wrong!
Personally I would stay clear, while the dealer is probably is OK, its not really the recommended approach to purchasing any vehicle.
There are better examples that appear for sale within the forum > if it looks to good to be true, then it probably is.....
Definitely one that needs to be HPI'd!

54 plate! Can't understand how a Coupe managed to languish unregistered for nearly four years. Usually dealers move stuff on/prereg overage stock. (or in some cases sent back for converting into test mules and then scrapping - as what happened to a load of XR3 and XR4 Cossies in the early 1990s)

[quote=AngrySloucher Also trying to avoid the statutory 6 months warranty traders have to adhere to I would imagine! No such thing [/quote] Your statutory rights, when buying from a trader, give you the right to return the car and claim compensation if there are any serious faults. If it's from a private seller, completely different. Technically, no trader can ever sell a car "sold as seen", it's actually a criminal offense for a trader to advertise a car using those words.

Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong Ok, I'm only going on Trading Standard's rules & regs and the law as put forward in the Sale and Supply of Good Acts 1979. If these aren't correct, however, I stand corrected Anyway, the car in question does look very nice, but I never trust these side-of-the-road "selling for a friend" jobs.

Quite.
If a trader sells a car as "with a dodgy gearbox, sold as seen" and you buy it - I cannot see any way that you could take him for compensation for a new car or new gearbox - he has informed you totally of its condition before you agreed to buy it ?.
However, if he sells it with a "perfect gearbox" and it evidently is not the case then that opens up a differant ball game although I would question if that could be raised as an issue 6 months down the line rather than in the first week or two.
Auctions. You buy a car at BCA you have 24 hours to raise misdescriptions etc. After that - its yours !

hi all, so do u think there may be something up with the car, or is it just the seller hiding the fact he is a car trader? He answered my questions through ebay, although one word answers: 'the car has full history with receipts, timing belt changed at city fiat southampton £1000 later. with all three keys including red one no mods complete standard.'
I have been after a black LE or Plus for a while, they dont come along often in this neck of the woods!
I'll hpi it. been reading through the v helpful buyers guide in prep for a viewing. cheers

Just make sure he has got the legal right to sell. How are you going to get proof that money changing hands has gone to the owner?. Perhaps you can make a deposit then finish the transaction when the owner is back from hols - whats the longest to wait, another 10 days ?.

It might be an absolute gem - but don't be seduced that it is comparatively local. I believe that if you are purchasing what some people call a lifestyle choice then it has to be the right coupe. My gut feeling though is to very cautious, with this one - but its your gamble!
I think if your patient enough you find a 'cherished' black LE or plus curently owned by a member.
The bottom line is take a look, try and get another 'grounded' member to share their opinion and get that HPI report before you pitch up.
I am a great believer in the fact you buy from people, there is something not quite on the money here.
In anycase I think bidding will exceed £4K which I am not convinced its really worth.
