So, its been 7 months since mine and DanDan's coops became a little too 'familiar' on a roundabout:

http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=701055&page=1

However, after being made £400 lighter, my 16vT is FINALLY back on the road laugh

Since the bonnet has come from someone who must've previously debadged it, I cannot but my old badge back on without either taping it on or drilling holes (not ideal!)

However, the more I look at it, the more I think it suits without the badge...what do you guys think?

http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr229/callumMGF/29042009920.jpg

It was so great to start driving her again, I forgot how much she pulls like a train, but rides as smooth as anything when you need it to be...

Was such a pleasure driving back to Norwich earlier, it made me realise why I put myself through the stress (anyone who's done the exhaust manifold gasket will know!) and financial hardship of putting her back on the road and not scrapping.

Ahhhh it's nice to be a true member of the club...again laugh

I am glad you got it back mate.

TBH I don't mind it with or without the badge, however you can't just drill holes and refit a badge as the badge fits in a recess that will have been filled when it was debadged.

Oh definitely; I'm very grateful that I was able to have it repaired without the need to buy any parts, aside from a £10 bonnet tongue

Thanks for the replies guys smile

Congrats Callum,

You must be over the moon. I know how you feel. My coop is back on the road too after a month! Dunno how you managed for 7 months. I'd have gone crazy.

Best of luck,

Daithi

I've just about touched the 7 month mark with out the coupe, so i know how you feel mate. Over that time a fair few grand has been splashed so i look forward to the fresh new feel of it.

Looks very tidy, and de-badged looks good to me.

I had to wait 3 months to get my replacement coupe. That was bad enough! 7 must be hell! shocked

I bet no one else had to drive around in a 1.5 Chavic AUTO during their break though ...

Indeed, 7 months was pretty bad, particularly whenever I walked past the car looking all sad and crumpled; luckily Dad let me drive his yellow 20vT now and again, but I think that only made me thirsty for more!

Don't get me wrong, I loved driving my MG again regularly, particularly having the roof down 90% of the time (yes, even when slightly raining). But you just miss driving the coop; theres something so captivating about driving it smile

Im glad you got sorted eventually. It made me sad to read about that tip at the time - reminded me how I had done the same to my beautiful Fiat 128 3p back in the 80's. sick

after that crash we had i never thought i would see this day, espeically photo 2, seeing the Coupes both back on the road, yours taking much longer than mine of cause... tongue

The fact this is my old car really pleases me that it is back on the road, where it should be, and not broken up for parts smile

It is very hard to take the time and effort to repair, but so gratifying in the end. Seems recently a lot of coupes have had the effort put in to be restored, or fixed. After a few months back the news was soo, on the other end of the spectrum. I will be hopefully posting next week, that my Le will be back on the road.
