Would this do the job? #81357

A while back I mentioned about my CD player not working properly due to jolts caused by the lowered suspension.

Well my son got a Creative Zen for xmas and he doesn`t like it cause its not hip and too big and bulky.

So my idea is to load all my music onto the zen then run it through a lead into the Stereo. So would this do the job?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-CDX-GT300-CD-...1QQcmdZViewItem

I know it wont control what I play. That will be done by me through the zen. Am I on the right lines?

cheers

Yes.

It has an Auxilary input:-
* Audio AUX Front Input (3.5 mm Mini Jack)
All you will need is a double ended stereo 3.5mm lead. You can buy these at most electrical retailers.

It`s a Sony CDX M700R. Has it got a output for a Ipod? Absolutely no idea
Looked at online instruction manual and I couldn`t tell ya

Yes it has and you can connect an Ipod or a Sony MP3 player and have the head unit Control the Ipod.

Basically it fools the HU into thinking the Ipod is a CD Changer. The adapters cost £50 and work very well, I have one for my Sony Hard Disk player.

Have a look here:- Connects2

Or this part will do the job for less but you will have to use the Ipod to change tracks etc, which may be a better option anyway. Adapter

John, sounds good to me... I think.

I have a Creative Zen... Will that work ?

Makes no odds to me whether i control music through the Ipod or Stereo. All I`ll do is loads of Compilations and just press play

I've (finally) got round to replacing the HU in my car with a Sony so that I can use the Connects2 box - as recommended and demonstrated by Bockers! - with my Sony NW-HD5. All works very well, you can control the MP3 player from the HU (or remote). My only criticisms are that you can't easily search for a particular track/album/artist unless you do that on the MP3 player itself, and the text on the HU is of a size where you don't get the full artist/album/track name displayed.

Think I need a small amp to run the rear 6x9s too as the sound from the new HU (Sony CDX-R6550) is a little bit "thin" for my liking.

Graham.
The Connects2 adapters only work for Sony HD/Minidisk player or Ipods.

Therefore if you are using the Zen you will need to go for the Later (and cheaper ) solution. This will mean using the Zen to navigate around your music, but as Cappo points out, and I agree, it is hard to navigate loads of tracks on the Hu itself anyway.

Thanks John.

That is exactly the advise I needed.

My son got a Sony Walkman for Xmas. It was horrible. Nice design but the software

He changed it for the Zen. Software great but now he wants to change as its too big and not cool

Oh well, his loss, my gain

How true is that! it's my only, and I mean only, criticism of the Sony. Sound quality, battery life, etc are excellent. You can't even delete a track from the device itself....and oh, if ONLY there was a "Synch" option on the PC software!

Used a Dell DJ and a Zen Micro before and the software is blissfully easy to use.
