Most people just remove it and then paint the console. There is a how to guide on it

Use Meths if you rub down Alot! it will come clean takes a layer off and leaves it tidy again.
Continue rubbing down and it leaves the plactic.
Careful when u respray as it can cause your buttons to stick.

You can wrap it in leatherette, which is a good (and very cheap) match to the rest of the dashboard. It's a bit fiddly but a 'How to' is coming (and is long overdue)!

I removed mine. Rubbed it down and painted it. It looked rubbish and bought a new one from fiat for ~ £200.

Heres a pic of mine, they were really badly scratched the Clock section has all the rubber removed while im finishing another clock section.
(i have a few consoles)
The ones i cant smooth down while keeping the rubber on im taking them down to the platic And poss respraying to sell on the forum.

Lower part has all the rubber still as i gently smoothed this off to leave virtually new looking.
