Hi, does anybody know what the coating is thats on the original centre consol? its kinda like a very thin rubber? Is it possible to repair or get it re-coated?

Use Meths if you rub down Alot! it will come clean takes a layer off and leaves it tidy again. Continue rubbing down and it leaves the plactic. Careful when u respray as it can cause your buttons to stick.

You can wrap it in leatherette, which is a good (and very cheap) match to the rest of the dashboard. It's a bit fiddly but a 'How to' is coming (and is long overdue)!

is it possible to get it re-coated in its original coating? does anybody know a place that might be able to help?

Andrew i have some pics of mine Fully refurbed. I can do it for you? Will get you the pics let you decide. Well i thought i did....will get some tomorrow. I have done a few now. And will be selling a fresh set i have done for a 16v

Heres a pic of mine, they were really badly scratched the Clock section has all the rubber removed while im finishing another clock section. (i have a few consoles) The ones i cant smooth down while keeping the rubber on im taking them down to the platic And poss respraying to sell on the forum.
Lower part has all the rubber still as i gently smoothed this off to leave virtually new looking.
