I'm with the wheel bolts being slightly too long.

Brake heat shield rubbing? They are easy to bend

It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise burial rates and blame it on the cost of living

When you press the brake pedal, does the sound go away (on the new wheels that is)

Brake caliper is hitting the wheel then, you need spacers or wider spacers if you have them

i had this problem on my cupra r , it turned out to be the wanli tyres that where on the front of the car ( cheap crap ) so swapped the pilot sports from the back to the front and don't get any noise now .

Surely there would be tell tale marks on the caliper if it was catching the wheel ?

Curious that I'm having the same problem here, and with the passenger side also!

I'm driving like that for about 6 months now and no one seems to catch the problem!

I have it since I've hit (at slow speed), one sidewalk brick on the middle of the road on a winter day. I've tried to pass by but the front passenger wheel hit it. The wheel became scuffed, one hell of a noise and one day later, at the workshop, they showed me the brake heat shield all wrapped up. The shield was replaced but the noise (something like rubbing) persisted until today.

It is more apparent when I turn left (right passenger side here).

I've traded wheels and the problem remains. The car was then elevated and the wheels were turned to both sides. No wheel arches rubbing detected!

Original wheels and bolts, so no longer bolts to replace.

i have changed the wheel bolts for shorter ones as advised ,there was no sign of them rubbing the brakes or hub..really cant work it out ,although it seems to of died down abit....

new problem is now it sounds like a rear bearing is going (loads of hummm)
could this of been the change in wheel size that set it off?

like i have said befor ,the wheels were on another coupe with no problems and dont see any sign of rubbing any where..there was the odd sounds of rear bearing ,but now with new wheels it started to be all the time..
