The first one is very pink Does sound like it has been maintained however The yellow one is due another cambelt change, so that'll cost £400+ ...Other than that looks to be worth a look I thought you are looking for a 16v non turbo? Have you checked the insurance costs for a 20vt....also, not wishing to scare you, but bad coupes can often cost their unsuspecting owners £1000+ very quickly in sorting out the problems (that is what you should be prepared for annually with any 20vt) Have you read the buyers guides thoroughly?

Where do you live, there are some good cars for sale on here right now I certainly wouldn't buy a coupe on eBay without having a very good look and drive!

It looks like that yellow one needs a clutch too which will be £450+.
If you can, buying from a member on here is a good idea. You can go back through their old posts to read about any problems etc they may have fixed and they will usually have had their cars serviced at Coupe specialists (like PowerItalia) who will have done a thorough job.
The Pistonheads one could be worth a look though. The owner has spent a lot on getting parts renewed which the next owner will get the benefit from.

The pistonheads one looks good although I think that is due a belt change too. Is it every 24k or 36k on a 16VT?

These are not cheap cars to run, especially in that price bracket. If spending £400 is a no no, you may wish to save more for a better one that has everything done

if you are thnking of spending £1200 or so on a 20vt id take a read of this.... ongoing thread in coupe related chat........ other than that, read the buyers guide or maybe print a copy and take it with you and go and view a couple of cars, you'll no doubt spot some of the things mentioned in the guide on a few cars you look at, and have a rough idea of what costs you can expect. Hope it doesnt sound like im trying to put you off, im not, just dont want to see another unhappy person in a few weeks time complaining about costs / reliability etc. Im sure you'll know buying any used car is a bit of a gamble, but ebay makes it more so. anyway, hope you find what you are after. Good Luck!

I can't understand anyone who buys a coupe which is exclusively for sale on ebay. This is the last place where you will find a cossetted, top spec car in great condition. The first place to look is on here and I would go for sellers who've been on the forum for a while. It's not a guarantee but as owl 10says, why reduce your chances of getting a good car by looking where only the desperate or ignorant sell their coupes. Apologies to those selling on here who also have an ebay listing. They don't count.

Sound advise from Tommy & Alan. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone other than the very desperate or very naive would want to purchase a car off eBay without a test drive & a full going over is beyond me Any car has to be viewed in the flesh if you intend to buy. More so a coupe in my opinion.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

dont buy coupe's on ebay unless the seller is linked to here man ...i mean it, as i got done right over, its not worth it, the peeps here will have way...way ...way...better cars and more sensible prices in most cases, and they are more likely to be honest in most cases.
be carefull

I have bought cars on ebay without seeing them.
I work under the assumption that if the car is not described I walk away.. If they want to report me for non payment I will contest it and report them for not accurately describing the item, and leave them negative feedback.
The only thing you need to watch is that you don't pay any deposit before you view the car. Just agree to pay the full amount on collection.
In a real Auction in most cases you can take the car back within an hour of purchase if it's a clumker.

Guys I agree with some of your sentiments about Ebay cars but can you really tar them all with the same brush? A lot of people use it as a cheap way of advertising and selling a car. You have also got to remember that not everyone with a coupe is an enthusiast or even knows about this forum. There is a lot of dross on the bay but viewing, experience and common sense (why has it had 8 owners of which 3 were in the last year etc) should stop you buying a knacker. I'm personally really pleased with my 2 owner, inch thick pile of bills etc etc VIS that I bought on the bay. I knew that £600 would be spent on it pretty quickly but the original price I paid for it made up for this. I think the bottom line is no matter how good a car you buy with the coupe you need deep pockets as they are always going to need work. Wal
If all else fails read the instructions
