Well just picking my daughter up from nursery, came out of nursery to find some lady who had just reversed into rear quarter panel. I now have a nice big dent and i think because its on the rear quarter it is a write off.

needless to say after 8 months hard work rebuilding the coupe, i'm fairly pee'd off!!!! On the phone to the insurance as we speak

Fingers crossed you will be able to fix Elmf1, very bad luck but at least they did not drive away without telling you.

Had a similar bump on my car a few years back, thought it was going to get written off but it was repaired! fingers crossed.

lets home its just a dent that can be pulled and that there is nothing bent!

Well insurance thinks it will repair, but dont like repairs to rear quarter panels, not keen on filler approach. Well its going in for an estimate within the next 2 days!!

That wouldnt be to hard to repair.

That's an easy repair, most will pull out needing only a slight amount of dressing and filling to bring the profile back. Happy days, could have been worse! Silly old moo!

agree, it looks like an easy fix. if the panel has creased along the top then it may need minor filler work.

IF you are to pay yourself, then id expect £300 - £400 for a real good job.

I nearly had the same damage by a dozy Focus driver on a roundabout yesterday

sorry to hear this elmof, but come on it is repairable and looks unlikely to involve any structural damage - and your attendance at cosford will still be expected...

Well fingers crossed, i know the damaged isnt too bad but i've seen insurance companies write off a car with less damage in the past.

I might also get a independant quote tomorrow and see if she wants to settle outside of the insurance.

ah it'll be ok matey - i know it's no consolation but i had mine driven into twice in 12 months, the second time when i'd just picked her up from the paintshop...

it'll be cool, and if you do come mine wont be the worst looking body-wise...(fingers, legs and "stuff" crossed)

As Rog and Gaz said really, easy enough repair and if she's admitted liability then it should all be dealt with quite quickly and you should get a courtesy car as well.

Yeh i know the damage isnt that bad, if i had done the damage i'd do the repair myself and have it painted.

I was just totally wound up earlier, 8 months geting the coupe done only for that too happen.

Yeh insurance say's it should be straight forward and quick in terms of the claim as it's not my fault. Also i havent got to find any money for the excess until the claim gets sorted as my legal protection covers it.

Car is going in for estimate, within the next 2 days plus i'll get a hire car. Only the bright side, there was a few little marks on the drivers side, so it will get a fresh lick of paint

Little update, well dent still looks pretty big in the day light, but the panel doesnt look creased so i think with a little heat it should hopefully pop back out. There is a slight dent in the edge that leads off the wheel arch that may need a little pull with a slide hammer. Then just a little bit of body work and some paint.

I'll also get included a couple of small parking dents on the rear panel removed and the chips on the drivers door edge will be sorted as the paint will need blending into the door.

While its in having the work done i might see what they'll charge to colour code the sills and bumpers. It my 30th on friday so hopefully the mrs will let me treat myself

anyone got a price on what they have paid in the past for sill and bumpers colour coding????

So hopefully a happy ending!! estimate being done tomorrow lunchtime, so quite impressed with insurance company and the speed that things are moving!

what was the paint like before the accident? has the bump done you a faver as such as the insurance will be paying for it?
ill be interested in knowing how much it is to color code the sills

Yeh the was a few marks on the drivers side, and some chips on the drivers door edge, so it has done my a fav in that sense. Just the hassle, but i get a hire car.

I called in the local bodyshop place today, and he quoted around £90 per sill. I personally think thats expensive, so i'll ask this other place tomorrow..

Well it's looking more like it is going to be written off. Just phoned up to see how much they are estimating the insurance. £1149

Think it's the best solution way to go anyway now, I'll have the pay out for the car, remove all the goodies and sell seperatly what i should get around £600.00

I'll get the rear quarter repaired locally for a cash job and sell cheap?
