I'm using one and it's a biiiiig difference in my 1.8, it's like a new car
as for the turbo not sure if it will work good enough to justify the high price Can't be bad then for a N/A. I like your work brian! By the way they have reported good gains on the Stilo abarths which have a similar engine to the N/a 20V

When i had my Bravo HGT 155 20v i upgraded to a BMC CDA from a Green induction kit and it definantly felt performance wise better and it sounded better.

My friend has one on his 20v Marea, it sounds luuuuuuurvley But I think it wouldn't sound right on a 20vt. I have a BMC open cone and I've just swapped back to a drilled airbox as I didn't like the noise

Just make sure that you get a nice cold air feed to it. At first i had only a short pipe into the gap infront of where the standard airbox would be and there was a noticeable lack of performance at the top end of the rev range when i was driving hard for long periods, or on a hot day. Then i took out some of the blanks in the lower front bumper and attached the feed pipe to there and it was instantly better at all times. Was going to run the pipe from the hole where the fog light was....but i decided i used my fogs to much for that

does anyone have a photo of how they have fitted it? on the NA it takes the air from the front bonnet just above the aircon unit, it then passes it to the airbox via a pipe, can i use that existing pipe to feed the air into the new filter? http://www.cirillowebdesign.com/intake.jpg(image is from 16v not 20v which is what i have) see image. . .

i was thinking of putting it right where the stock airbox is now and make up a custom pipe to join it straight to the MAF [20VT]. this would mean that the inlet is faced towards the rear of the engine bay, but i dont think that will be an issue as long as there's cool air there.

so can i join it up where i said as above? although there will be cold air at the front the air will be under more pressure from that pipe.... no?
cheers Mario

Mario i don't see why you can't connect to that existing pipe. The bit in front would help direct cold air to your CDA's inlet. Provided you can make it fit Redd, I doubt it will sound any different than your airbox on a turbo. The principle behind the CDA is that it has a cold air feed directly to the air filter canister, hence making a difference on an NA car. On a turbo, cold air feeds to the filter are useless as the air is gonna be heated up by the turbo anyway.

can someone explain the difference between using the cda enclosed filter and a standard k&n cone filter. Which would you reccomend? Sound/Performance . . . Cheers Mario

The enclosed filter can only draw air through wherever you have the tube that feeds it. So in theory as long as this is well placed you will reduce your intake temperatures. As stated this is mostly of use with an N/A car, but turbo cars do benefit to a lesser extent from colder intake temps. Open filters can draw air from all over the engine bay, so like in traffic or on hot days when under bonnet temps can increase significantly a performance difference can be felt. I have had mixed experience with noise, i think it depends very much on the individual model of the car. Someone will probably come along with more knowledge of the individual coupe engines but i know when i had my bravos the 1.8 N/A seemed louder with an open K+N then with the CDA, however my 2.0 20v was quite a lot louder with the CDA then it was with the Green open filter. My brothers last saxo..just a VTR had a massively loud inductuon noise on an open filter and no noise at all with a CDA squeezed in. Im not 100% sure why, is probably to do with how much work the filter is doing...i.e. the surface area of the filter, but its just what i found.

bet it would sound cool! did you rig it up to the existing air feed from the old airbox on the NA or did you just run the tube to the front of the bonnet?

you can kinda see in this picture: http://freepsp.co.uk/Car/SP_A0083.jpgthe flex pipe at the top i connected to the MAF is the same pipe as used at the bottom that would normally connect the bonnet inlet to the airbox, if that makes sense? Ry
