Hi guys.
Looking to buy a coupe, but hard to find low mileage/turbo model, and ive found a low mileage non turbo.

How hard would it be to fit a turbo to the car? Are all the fittings there as standard anyway? Obviously the oil pipes would need to be added/exhaust mounting etc... How much are we talking to go to a garage/do it myself.
Cheers guys

I'm no expert on the coop but any turbo conversion on any car is on practical terms alone a no no. not unless you completely know what your doing and do the work yourself even then insurance will be higher than a proper turbo ect ect... thats just for starters \:\)

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Has been spoken about many-a-time. Would be ALOT cheaper to sell the non turbo car and buy a turbo car.

I just tried selling my Turbo car, and was offered Peanuts for it. So I have decided to keep it.

The value of all cars is pretty depressed at present so if you are patient the right turbo car will come along at the right price. Especially if the owner hasn't got the option to keep it.

Nope, it ain't going to happen without a donor car and/or a lot of time and money, sorry \:\(

It really is a major undertaking, it's not just a plug and play job so you'd be better off following the advice above and buying a turbo model from the start.

Oh, and coupés are the type of car where you buy on condition, not mileage. There are some real low-mileage dogs out there and some fantastically mint high-mileage cars ;\)

There are tonnes of low priced turbos, so not sure what your budget is but i dont think you need a massive budget at the moment, like symonh2000 said, prices are low. I thought the same as yu a while back about getting a low mileage one, but i got mine with 99.5k on the clock, with really good condition leather and interior, bodywork needed a tiny bit of tlc, which isnt difficult, but if your good with engines and mechanics a 80-100k car could turn out to be a bargain. Mine was £2000, spent a tiny bit on sorting her out, but now only have a few small problems. I think you would be better waiting, or just going and having a look at a few turbos.

If you are good with mechanics like i say, try ebay, or look at http://www.pistonheads.com, got a few for sale on there, r even look through the for sale section on here, some lovely examples on here (but also alot of people joining here just to sell there cars) Hope i dont get shot down for saying that \:D

As above, no point buying a non-turbo just pay the extra and buy a turbo-charged example if that's what you want \:\)

cheers guys for the advice...
as you said here earlier, you buy on condition, not mileage... but to be honest maybe i am being too picky then...

My specifics are maroon red turbo with less than about 70K for upto 3000 i would pay.
to be honest, i have just diregarded every one I have seen with more than about 80K on the clock. I mean, im hoping to keep it for a good few years, and do about 10k a year. But you guys think mileage of 80-100K is still quite ok to get??!

yes - with the age the cars are now then ANY car you look at will have needed big jobs to be done - cambelt, oil cooler, rad, etc.......
