My dads skoda seems to have greater than 50 metres. What's the furthest anyones got? and is there a trick to boosting the range?

ally_f Unregistered A	mine worked from maybe 20m away but now its more like 2m - time for some new batteries. after youve unlocked it, does the led light on the dash stay on until u start the car? if so this means the keyfob batteries are dying.

I can barely get it to unlock from 5 metres. What batteries does it take and will it mess up any settings by just swapping for a new battery?
