Isle of Wight,
Superchips claim an added 30bhp and can be trusted, but it costs £600. What is the best chipping option. I have heard the name Graham L. Who has his chip, and what does it do for the car? Are there others?

Like my new signature logo?

Yes, GrahamL is the man for your chip (pm him through here)or contact him through Ebay - his user name is something like Traumax.

The name of Grahams' chip is a Gtec 1.

There are other chips around, but a Gtec 1 is the most recommended and safest for your car.

Not sure what he's charging for them at the moment, so expect to pay anything between about £25 and £40.

It should add around 25 ish bhp to your Coupe.

Yes, your new signature logo is very nice, although a moderator will be along later and remove it as it's too big (300x100 max) and this thread will be moved to the tuning section, as it's currently in the wrong section - sorry.

With regards to prices, if you're a member of FCCUK the price of a chip is £35 and £45 to non-members. \:\)

My recommendation would be to 'not bother' with a chip. Do you really feel you need more? I can say without hesitation that any form of chipping WILL shorten the life of your engine. Once running a different chip your car will FEEL quicker with the big spike of boost, but it really isn't much faster at all. Feel free to shoot me down everyone, but like many others I've had a coupe, chipped it, had the fuelling checked which was 'fine' and it still popped a piston ring.

Leave standard and you'll have a car that does everything you want and yet still lasts 150000+ miles.

Preaching over.

NB - please render this post null and void if you bought your coupe to mod it, if you're adding a big turbo, new fuel pumps and 400+ bhp forged monsters do not apply. Just don't buy a good standard coupe and chip it, then leave it like that. IMO of course.

Civic = right.
PLus the clutch will die very quickly, £40 chip, £400 clutch, barely any faster car.

I wouldnt bother either. Heres me (silver, chipped) and a standard car in a straight drag. I got a better start in the clip.
There is nothing in it until you hit third and then only a slight margin.

OMG !!! The hypocracy!!! \:D
Civic, if your Evo was/is an FQ-anything then it had a GTEC equivalent put on it when it came into the country - no testing, just plug in and off you go.

The coupe was designed to be chipped, that's why we have a chip holder in the engine management box and many other cars do not....

All good things come to an end!

If my engine died tomorrow I would look back and say it was worth it. ;\)

I seem to remember Mr civic running an unchecked Novitec for a few thousand miles.

What was the signature?

"1.6bar overboost....mmmmmmm \:# " or similar \:D

I reckon my clutch (from Mr clutch no less) must be on 40,000 miles now \:\) . I'd say they are only slaughtered quickly by the launch heroes...

F****** b****** thing...
