hi all..i noticed at st andrews that most of you guys with modded cars had fitted at teh lvery least, an underbonnet strutbrace..now, handling is my thing..i dont profess to be the fastest, or best driver in the world, but i do i get most of my enjoyment from back road blasts ratehr than main road top end stuff....does the strut brace make a difference....i mean, obviously it does or y'all wouldnt have gone down that route....but..
..id like to keep my car as 'civilised' as possible..im relatively happy with the ride/handling compromise as it is, thought the car rolls a wee bit more than ideal, but certainly generates plenty of grip in the bends....does the strut brace make the car feel tighter on turn in??..sit flatter powering out of corners thus improve traction???.....tell all, im tempted if it makes an appreciable difference on a standard set up....gbn

probably the best value handling mod you can have on a Coupe - do it Definately. Unfortunately I had mine fitted at the same time as Eibach springs, Bilstein dampers and overhauled suspension consumerables so can't personally identify the difference it made. However the much improved (reduced) understeer can be attributed to this little fella. Coming out of a tight bend you can feather the throttle on a lot earlier and with far more confidence. I didn't think the standard set-up suffered too badly from understeer, but it is certainly much improved with a strut brace. There are a few other bracing optioned out there (Nigel's a bit of a pioneer in this area ) but the good old strut brace is the one to start with. I think it was standard fit on the LE and the later Plus. It will make the car better without any compromise, unlike virtually EVERY other mod does. Get one.
F****** b****** thing...

I've just fitted a strut brace, but I havent driven the car yet, and wont be doing so until the 20th when it's off to motormech to get the GT28R fitted. Should make a big difference to the handling, less wallowy round the corners

Well after trial fitting my strutbrace a year ago i'm reluctant to take it back off again to paint it blue as it's such an improvement . Baz

Fitted mine about a month ago and it really stiffens the front of the car. Without it, I could feel the car shudder over bumps, even when the car was new. That has gone. It seems to handle more linearly but the extra stiffness allows some bumps to be more easily felt. An acceptable compromise in my opinion. The car feels the way it should and never did before. So much improvement for so little money - go for it.

when i purchased my coop strut brace was already fitted so as said i cant realy comment how the coop performs with/out but what i do know i fitted a brace to my punto & the difference was quite amazing to say the least, where these things perform is when cornering fast, far smoother, doesn,t dive into the corner far less wallowy if you know what i mean.. as the guys on here say fit one
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Strut braces (top and bottom) = better over rough roads, less rattles, less flex, more precision.
