theres a couple of things im not sure about. if my standard turbo packs in cos of my decat and i have to get a replacement i know there are a few options. a new, bigger turbo,a new or secondhand standard turbo,or recon mine. now, if i get a bigger turbo it means more cooling too, also isnt a bigger turbo going to give more high revs power? if i get a standard turbo itll break again. so, what i want is a standard turbo with quick response and not much lag as i like bottom end acceleration, but that doesnt break with a decat or need more cooling or other things adding. whats the best option?can i get something done to my standard turbo to strengthen it?bearings e.t.c? any advice appreciated.

I would personally change to a GT series Garrett, if your not interested in upgrading to massive BHP at a later date you could run a small modern turbo, have the same sort of power and have better spool up and less lag, you would need to do your homework though to make sure you get the best variant for your aplication.

yea the garrett gt series sounds good thats what i want fast spool up quick response turbo as my car is decatted that should help with the lag too. im happy with my power at the moment,i just need the turbo to be able to handle the eprom(whatever that is)chip and the decat. a turbo the same as mine with less lag and better spool up that wont fccuk up. hopefully giving me about 270 bhp. so which garrett in particular would be best do you experts think?

what i want is a standard turbo with quick response and not much lag as i like bottom end acceleration, but that doesnt break with a decat or need more cooling or other things adding. I think a superspool + 360 degree bearing should also be okay. Some people here use them, do a search and read more about it The 360 degree bearing will better cope with higher pressures than original bearing.

Add ultraspools to Freddan's list, there's a post in the rolling road section by someone who had one fitted. He seemed to get good results.

Ultraspool is a Ball Bearing turbo. Is the ultraspool ball bearing core in a GT28 or T28 housing?

Google says:
"GT2560" is Garrett nomenclature for a GT25 with a 60mm compressor wheel. In the Garrett aftermarket, this is known as a GT28 (or GT28R if ball-bearing) to differentiate it from those GT25s with a smaller compressor wheel.
So is the ultraspool just a smaller GT28R?

Think about it this way: If you want mega spool and a top end drop off (think standard turbo but better) = superspool If you want 3000 rpm shove, midrange grunt, and 1.1 bar redline, and close to 300bhp (slight drop off) = GTIR hybrid If you want top end power and over 300bhp with 3,500 rpm shove that escalates to the redline then go for a GT28RS. The GT28R is similar though spools quicker and is not quite as ballistic at the top end. On both these turbos you will need supporting mods to get the best out of them and for safety I would suggest that you have the car mapped. The GT series are not a straight fit, so they will cost about double a GTIR including the cost of the parts to fit and the unit itself. Got all that? Good....now you just have to decide on the housing size that you want...

so when you say standard turbo but better the superspool will be better and more responsive than mine but similar power, and the gtir hybrid gives a little more power but up the rev range a bit? and both of these i could just buy and get fitted without anything else, and will take the decat and chip i have without fccuking up like a standard might?

budget is as little as possible. will buy the turbo and get someone to fit it. just want a turbo that will last longer than a standard one. if i get a little extra power etc then its a bonus.

My old GTiR only lasted 20,000 miles, I dont think any remanufactured or refurbished unit will last as long as a brand new original turbo (if you have the cat on). a brand new GT28R would be more suited to your level of tune than a GT28RS, you can keep the decat with it too

Sorry for my stupidness, but is it possible to use GT28RS instead of TB2810 with stock ECU? What will be with exhaust temperature? Is it better to use SAFC with GT28?

Yes - you can use that turbo. It is however not a straight fit. You can also use a GT28RS with the standard ecu and injectors, though you may have to increase the fuel pressure depending on how the car is setup.
You will have to control the fuelling and get the car setup on a rolling road or similar, so your limiting factor is going to be what is availible in Russia. I dont know anyone in the UK that uses an SAFC on a coupe - it seems to be used on the Japanese cars a lot though.
I run (and some others) a Dastek Unichip - which works in a similar way to the SAFC by intercepting the signals to the ECU.
The exhaust temperature will depend on the whole spec of the engine, what boost and what fuelling you run etc. so that's not really a question that has a simple answer...
