ahem

Just slap it in there, whats the worst that can happen!

(i'll tell you)

You fit it the wrong way round, fcuk the threads trying to unscrew your mistake and then need a flat-bed recovery truck to take your car to the garage as theres now nothing holding the suspension in place.

Not that any of that happend to me of course, it was Stan and i was the recovery driver....honest.

It shoudl go across the very top of the enigne bay (at least on the 16vt's it does) almost squashing the power steering fluid container.

If its the le style strut brace (one bolt each end holing it on) then you want to fit it with the adjuster not tensioned. When its all bolted down you want to adjust it so it just starts to tension the strut tops (don't over tension it as it will pull the strut tops in and change your camber)
Or you can adjust the it up while not bolted down so the bolt holes line up perfectly then just bolt it down and no need to adjust it once bolted down.

Hope this helps, abit hard to explain \:\)

ok thanks
yes its only got one bolt each end
thought it looked dodgy fitting it to the engine mount thingy on the drivers side(whats this realy called?)
il undo it and line it up first then put it back on

Thats where the le style ones go. The 16v omp ones bolt onto the strut tops themselves and work. The sparco ones are more for looks really.

Sorry but I disagree. There was a noticable difference after mine had been fitted. \:\)

I believe the OMP one is even better due to the extra mounting points.

dont want just looks

after the omp strutbrace was fitted to mine it definately turns in better and has less understeer than before.

Sparco one definatly makes a difference.

I dont think your meant to tighten anything once its on though.

I agree, the Sparco ones do make a difference. I fitted one a couple of weeks ago and there's loads improvement in handling and role. It does need to be tightened though or its just pointless, just don't tighten it too much!

when these are 'tightened', are they tightended (pulled in) or 'slackened' (so the struts are pushed out)?

What i was saying is the sparco one isn't quite as good as the omp one due to how its mounted. I wouldn't tighten it to much as what it does is stop the strut tops twisting etc when under load. If you tighten it you will change all the front alignment and might even make it worse.

You don't tighten or slacken it at all, your not trying to jig the chassis your just trying to prevent chassis flex.

The OMP brace is a little more rigid than the Sparco version because its a straight bar as opposed to the bendy bar that Sparco produced so it has a little more resistance to movement.

or get a tipo 16v strut brace and you can have it mounted on all 3 bolts like this (ignore the dirty engine bay, engine had gone pop then \:\(
