Hi all, i'm currently saving up for another fiat coupe as the one i had previousely (for 3 days!!!!) got smacked into and was written off, i was extremely gutted as u can imagine! It only cost me £1030 and it was a broom yellow n reg 2.0 16v na and i absolutely adored it!!! It made me smile so much sinking into those leather seats \:\) Currently im driving round in a fiat seicento sporting abarth which is a cool little car but id love to own a coop again, im addicted lol! I'm 22 and consider myself to be a great, safe driver but i was just wondering if u think that by getting smacked into it was gods way of saying too much too soon perhaps cuz at times i believe in fate lol, ive never had a crash in my peugeot 106 before it. Just wondering if u guys would recommend buying another one as im currently saving up and just wanted advise on colour, where to look for one when i have enough cash, what engine to go for, where to go for servicing, is servicing, running the coop too expensive etc??? The only faults with the fiat coupe i had for a bit was the interior door trim had come loose and was dangling by the front passenger area but i fixed that with some vaseline and elbow grease lol, the interior light didnt work, probably needed a new bulb and the front headlight bulb didnt work but that was my own fault cuz i wasnt sure how the bonnet catch worked and it dropped suddenly lol. I absolutely adored the car and was just wondering if its worth the money/agro buying another one bearing in mind that ive only been driving since i was 20 and getting smacked into by a chav in a fiesta has un-nerved me about getting another coop again???!? thanks in advance, tom

OK in order of your questions, here are your answers:

No
Yes
Blue
Here
20VT
Powerfiat

I trust that clears up your confusion.... Although I doubt it \:D

If you are unsure of getting another coop, then leave it for a year, this will enable you to save more thus getting a better car and also will put your (slightly irrational ;\) ) fears of dejavu / co-inicidence aside. But it is just a car and you did just have an accident, I would read too much into it \:\)

However, having had an accident, you may well get stung by the insurance leeches even if it wasn't your fault. Maybe try a 20v non-turbo, can't beat the sound \:# and will be cheaper to run ;\)

I'm looking to sell my 16V NA Yellow Coupe v soon.
It's got 63k genuine miles, couple of small stone-chips but apart from that all runs great. MOT and Tax'd till Nov 08.
May be a lot cheaper on insurance for ya.
How much U looking to spend?

Thanks for all the replies :O) I'm going to wait until the mot is due on my seicento and also to get another years no claims bonus (hopefully) and let my bank balance build up before i opt for a coop again. I'm probably going to spend around the 3k+ area for one, not too much, not too little, the only thing that worries me is if it will constantly have faults with it, which will be expensive to repair, i was just wondering if you would still recommend getting one with this in mind as i still would like a car thats pretty reliable, are all the stories true or is that if u just pick up a real pig? I will either go for a 20v turbo or a 20v na, the only problem being the time it takes to warm up and cool down all the time, although i could fit a turbo timer to it if possible? I think i will get one from this forum as u guys really seem to know ur stuff and are genuine enthusiasts.. I will probably go for an Ink Black, Broom Yellow, Sprint Blue or Rosso Red one, im not keen on the other colours (no offence) Having said that earlier, if a suitable coop does crop up i may buy sooner :O) I really cant think of a car that offers this much for the money, i was thinking about the mitsibushi fto but they're getting too common ( i love being an individual) and the interior is horribly dated and the coop is just so stunning, that car esp in broom yellow turns heads like you can't believe, even to the point that lil kids come up to you at a standstill and put their thumbs up and smile lol. Anyway i'll shuttup rambling now lol, cheers for the help so far. Cheers

At that price you may get one that is ok or bad, impossible to say, life's a gamble as they say.
On the other hand, would you rather spend £5000+ and get one from a trusted member on here or from Solo Italia, that is totally mint and everything mechanical taken care of?
IMHO, buy off the for sale section here and for £3000 you'll get a good "starting point" 20vt.
One thing I can tell you for certain is absolutely no one is going to sell you a coop that has had all the major jobs and most of the other mechanicals done AND new tyres/brakes and alloy refurbs for £3500...not going to happen.
There are always going to be jobs needing doing (suspension, tyres, clutch, leather, aircon, gearbox, bodywork yada yada) on any coupe, that each subsequent owner should contribute to.
I, for example, am looking at taking care of some vibration at motorway speeds and getting the leather treated and a couple of other jobs as my target in the time that I own the coupe. so as it will be in theory, a better car than when I purchased it.

Bear in mind that JimO spends most of his days in a straight jacket, and the rest of us lot (that are sane) wouldn't read too much into it ;\) .

Classic Cars magazine is currently listing a "mint" turbo coupe as being worth £5,500. I would guess you could make that £7,000 for a plus or LE. The thing is with these cars is that you're better off spending the money "up front" on a car from on here which has had all the jobs done rather than spending £3,000 on one from Autotrader that turns out to need £3000 worth of work and it's still got no history/service record. Buy from an enthusiast on here and let him or her take the cash loss.
