Was looking at Coupe brake upgrades and found this company http://www.ksport.co.uk/products.asp?f=brakesthey already do kits for the 20V, but have asked them about the 20VT. In order to do this they would need the below - is this something anybody know off the top of their head? http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f158/p...NewBrakeKit.jpgFrom reading about them online, it seem people are quite impressed, and the prices seem keen. They already do a 6 pot back brake, so I guess that would fit all coups? The kit also uses floating brake discs. Only problem I can think of is if the brakes are 330MM you would probably need 17inch wheels...? What do people think? ====================================== Sent: Thursday, 3 January, 2008 4:43:09 PM Subject: RE: Ksport Web User Message I'll double check with the factory, I could get the brackets sorted if I had the measurements, or a spare hub to send to the factory. Is that something you could help with? (see attached) I would need A, B, C, D, DD, and M Kev Duckworth Apex Performance Parts +44 (0)1274 683633 http://www.apexperformance.co.ukK-Sport & PPGearbox http://www.ksport.co.uk

how much are we looking at for the fronts? 6-pots in the rear seems a bit overkill.
and what's the equivalent brembo pads (if any) they would take?

Unless I'm horribly wrong, this kit is around for sometime now, in different guises and colours. It's rated higher than the 10pot Tarox one, a good mate just got one, I'll check with him and come back to you yes you definitely need 17inch wheels. cheers V.

Sub £750 for 2 piece discs, 8 pot calipers, brake pads, pipes, and the relevent brakets seems pretty good to me? That is cheap.... for a 330 you will need 17inch wheels. It is not only diameter that you need to think about, also clearances from spokes to the caliper. Having 8 pots is also not necessarily any better than 4. If you are willing to use a 17inch team dynamics pro race 1.2 wheel then you could probably run 340's...if you think they are needed.

I think they look pretty sexy brakes for that price, but with the coilovers it only states 20V, do they fit the turbo the same, or not. If not where is there best place to reccommend me to get coilovers for £500-600 or can does anyone know of cheaper than that.

pots don't make prizes. Looks like the area of the pots isn't much bigger than a std 20VT caliper which would mean it would have no better stopping power. But if someone can find out the pot sizes then you will know one way or another and also the pad surface area.
you would need a 130mm bracket for a 20VT whereas the 20V uses 100mm (I think). Also the offset etc. are all different

It is, and to make it fit, is going to be fun and game because there wont be any linkages for the handbrake on it

John, Even if the pots sizes where the same, wouldn't the 2 part disc, and bigger disc size mean better stopping power with less fade? Yeah surely the lever arm increase would help matters? I'm pretty sure JohnS has the same 996 convesion as Barbz did, this would probably cost similar and have a much better range of aftermarket pads...? John where did you source your calipers from?

John, Even if the pots sizes where the same, wouldn't the 2 part disc, and bigger disc size mean better stopping power with less fade? 2 part disc is possible on the std caliper and is for unsprung weight. Yes a bigger disc will provide better fade resistence But it will not provide better stopping power unless the pots have a bigger surface area and likewise the pad. I'm pretty sure JohnS has the same 996 convesion as Barbz did, this would probably cost similar and have a much better range of aftermarket pads...?
John where did you source your calipers from? My calipers were off a 3000 mile old 996 Turbo. purchased them from the US but are regularly available on ebay uk, us and germany. They're monobloc calipers (single piece) so are more expensive to start with than these ones. But if you can get a kit for 800 quid that is 80% as good that is good enough for almost everyone unless you have an aim for over 400BHP.

But it will not provide better stopping power unless the pots have a bigger surface area and likewise the pad.
Increasing the piston area is not usualy a good idea. It may increase the force acting on the pads but it also increases pedal movement and spoils the front-rear balance. Multi-pot calipers can provide better braking (even with the same piston area) because the force is distributed more evenly across the pad, and the pad is also usually larger (lower force per unit area, but higher total force due to non-linearity of friction coefficient, same as tyres).
