.. because some b*stard has drilled two holes in the sidewall of one of my brand new tyres. The tyre has only done 100miles and it's now useless. It's outside a mates house (long story - involving antoher bunch of thieving sc*m called Lambeth council). I'm worried that they're going round to finish the job and do the other 3 wheels but i can't park outside of my own house as i no longer have a residents permit. Heaven help me if I catch the low life that did this.. I'd drill two holes in their feet.

Thanks guys.. I've calmed down a bit now but i'm still really annoyed. I can't believe that they're brand spanking new proxies and now one's ruined. I was hoping to stop spend so much money. Now I need a new tyre and risk ruining the newly refurbed wheel.
Also mine was the only car that was targeted as well. Didn't help me still displaying an expired residents permit of another neighbourhood. (I've taken this off now but i'm sure they'll recognise the car).
I really hope what goes around comes around though. (It's rare I wish someone harm but in this instance I hope they get what they deserve).

Cos I'll be absolutely shattered the next day and might drool on the seats? Ken - I guess someone's done it because you parked in 'their' parking space?

Probably.. I'm tempted to find out what car normally parks there, then go see the owner... with you.

Sure - sounds fun Ken. I've never understood why people get irate when you park outside their house on a public street - what's the big deal if they have to walk 20m to get to their house?

Indeed, if you are concerned about parking outside your house, have one with off street parking or don't have a car!

Thing is, these roads are just outside of the Controlled Parking Zone. It's hard enough to find a parking space around there and with Lambeth council now charging residents over £10 a month to park outside of their house it's getting even worse. Residents there are probably cheesed off that they can't park on their street but it's still no excuse to drill a hole in someones tyre. Anyhow, Lambeth council is just unbelievable. Last year the permit was £60, it's now over double that at £130. (Given Kensington and Chelsea pay £110 for a permit I think it's outrageous as we're clearly not better off than that lot!). So, out of principle i'm not getting one. (Although in the long run it's less than the cost of replacing two tyres. ) The cr@p thing is there is nothing you can do to challenge the council. Complaints get brushed aside and when they do respond it's with limp excuses that the 'new emission based policies are an incentive to purchase a more environmentally friendly car'. Rubbish! I'm not going to change my car for an additional £70 per year.. and they know that. So in retaliation i'm going to make them work blooming hard for them to justify their reasoning behind the new policy. Geez I love the freedon of information act!

I understand what your saying, but for the sake of having it outside my house I would just pay it. The Toyos going to cost £60, if a friendly resident drills another, you have already covered the permit cost.

I'm hoping to move soon anyhow. Just out of interest, a letter in our local rag this morning from an owner of a 2.5 v6 Jag explained how his car had a far lower emissions output than his neighbor who only drove a 1.1ltr eco car... due to the fact that his annual mileage is 2,500 a year, his neighbour 24,000 miles a year, however he gats taxed at a higher rate for more emmissions when in reality his car produces far less CO2... good point I thought ?

The only way to have any accuracy in gauging the actual emission is by placing such tax on the petrol (but it is already so bl**dy expensive!!!), it is the only fair & simple measurement method.

Yep, and in my complaint to the council, I wrote to them asking how it was fair that I use a push bike for 99% of my journeys yet am still penalised at a higher rate for owning a car which is parked?! The irony is that i'm causing more pollution by having to move the car a short distance every other day than if it were just sat outside of my house. Oh don't get me started on thoses t*ssers.
