Thinking of buying a Coupe (16 or 20 v)... logical seeing as though i have an Italian surname.
Hoping someone can help with a few answers.I have looked at
'Things to check'somewhere on this forum but the list is endless.
Can some one give me a definative list of the most important things to check?...to help steer me clear of a shed.

Also, is the 16v the most economical?

Thanks.

Oil and timing belts ;\)
Ask owner bout oil consumtion if he keeps a bottle in the boot ya know the cars been looked after...
Ps go for a 20valve more economical if thats what your looking for...
if he says the belts have been done make sure all pulleys and bearings been done as well also the water pump can be changed at the same time....
And make sure to read the service history...if it doesnt have one just walk away......
And make sure all keys are present especially the red one

yes, check the Buyers guide clicky

Mpg is about the same, but if that is your deciding factor you may be looking at the wrong type of car

Sod if they have 3 keys or not, there 10 years old now, there bound to go walkies. You do not need 3 keys.

Nah not really. You can buy a lockset for 100-300 doesn't mean the car's owned by a better person.

Thanks men,
No i'm not looking at the wrong type of car its the styling that interests me not performance, hence.. may as well have the most economical...if theres such a thing....test drove
a 16v the other week it was fine for me ....just felt right driving it ..if you know what i mean..went away to check insurance ...2 hours later someone bought it..so i missed out on that one.. but now i have my heart set on one.

Some of we 16v owners have never been tempted to the dark side; others have changed to turbos or 20v/vt. I don't recall of anyone announcing they'd sold a 20 for a 16, though... \:s

In your shoes I'd go for a 20v, it's a more modern engine, more economical but more powerful than the 16v unit and it sounds great. The bonus is that you also get a nicer interior.
