Sorry to Mods for posting here but thought it would be read by the people I need to contact.

Whilst on the Big Coop Meet in the Lakes on Saturday and hooning around the roads and lanes, I hit a VERY big pothole which has destroyed the nearside wishbone and topmount. If I remember correctly, I wasn't the only one to hit it and this is where I need people's help.

Does anyone know where we were, the name / number of the road etc? Sorry but I can't remember who I spoke to about it but they were in a yellow coop and saw me hit it.

The repair bill so far is £225 and rising and if I can get photos of the culprit, I fully intend to claim the money back from the Council responsible.

Any help or information would be gratefully received.

Don't know Mitch and that's the problem. We were travelling from Whoop Hall to the Sportsman's and going uphill at the time. The pothole was on the left and C2D's already confirmed that he can remember it but not sure where.

Guys. I ended up with a burst tyre aswell, which coulda been from hitting a HUGE pothole. Might be the same one. I'll check my alloy tommorow and see if its damaged.

i was behind MABR when it happened, i just servered and just missed it!
it was after we came down from the Kirkstone pass then we turned left up a small b road where Redline was there directing us, dunno if that helps

i can remember hitting a big pothole the coupe behind me saw my car disappear then reappear so avoided it i think it was on the kirkstone pass road A592??? somewhere between the roundabout and the k,p,inn?.
If i get chance il have a look an get some pics.

Hopefully the mystery will soon be solved - I'm just hoping that the Council haven't filled the hole in yet.

I Can't remember any pot holes myself? but if I have a better idea which area then I can soon pop and take a look? There just seems to be confusion where the hole is as flying custard seems to think between the roundabout ant the Inn, but: -

MABR did you go over Kirkstone Pass? As although I tried my best to herd 25 coupes I lost half the flock in Bowness and half followed up the A592 Kirkstone Pass and I only pressume the others carried on the A591 to Keswick?

As you say you hit the hole going uphill I'm guessing its somewhere on the climb up to the kirkstone pass inn? but can you be more specific? where you in an open area or under tree cover? As the road is in the 30/40 limit for sometime in a built up area but as you start to climb your out in the open fell with just walls lining the road?

Quite happy to snap the hole as soon as its location is discovered?

Might be wrong here, but it was between the roundabout and the KP inn. Near to it was a wall that had crumbled with a few rocks on the road edge. I saw it and missed it.

My repair is looking to be the wrong side of £300.

I cant remember seeing it either but I'm sure we can track it down.

Don't worry about it being filled in quickly, that's pretty unlikely in Cumbria.

Well today my passenger side tyre was feeling a bit funny so i topped it up ast night and its finally gone today and it has a bit more tread on it than the drivers side and both are the same age so im not best please but i definately felt one hell of a thump on one of the roads as mrs pleb thought it was oing to throw us off the road so ill be claiming my repair bill for today back from them sa well if you can help us out with how to do it MABR??

Don't wish to be the voice of doom but you can only claim if someone, prior to the date in question, has notified, officially the said council, that there was a problem, and that they ignored that problem due to negligence.
If you trip on a kerbstone that has lifted, the council will only recompense you if they have received one other complaint beforehand, and not acted upon it.

it is negligence no matter how you look at it the hole did not just happen over night,its so deep that when it rains there is a sign there that say no fishing,

ok then when i get the pic off one of the lads ill say it was me,cos my damage not to bad easy fix, then a few days later mabr can report it,i think the timeing wont realy matter if its still there when the pics been sent to me,what you think mate

That's fine with me Karl - depends what type of road it is as to who's responsible and what the claim preocess is.

With regard to the road location, C2D PM'd me with this description;

I thought the pothole was after we had gone down an incline DC and there was a roundabout. I thought we were gonna go straight on but we didn't - we turned left onto some country road and followed it to Bowness. As we got to the latter part of this road it went up an incline and we went round a left hander which is where the pot hole was followed by a right hander, shortly after we came to the junction where we all had to wait our turn before pulling out onto te road that took us into Bowness

yes but all i remember is that it was a left hander and stone walls,tight road kev and bev were ahaed of me might be worth asking them think she hit it,god she can drive

From C2D's description that is the road (B5284), we took through Crook and down to Bowness.

Yeah, I had a feeling she could when we met up at Haydock Island and she listed the cars that they'd owned -evo's etc. Bev said she loved speed and fast cars.

Neither did I but boy, did I feel it!

Mitch - have you or Redline been able to locate anything yet? I know the earliest that Redline can get there is today.

I haven't been up, but I am planning a trip up early next week depending on weather (I need good photos for a college project) The only problem is I am now confused where it might be. Was it before we got to Windermere or after that on the climb up the pass?
