I have to get my rear bumper spayed as a result of someone bumping into me. The body shop told me that the black part isn't going to hold the paint. But people here find that the etching works OK? Or if I bought a new bumber, do they have a different finish? What's the best advice?

As long as they sand it down and prime it it should hold the paint perfectly fine as IIRC the bumper is all the same just that bit isnt color coded.... not too sure though but should be able to get paint to stick on it if they are any good and not half a55'd

Lots of us have colour coded fronts and rears

Even better to get front and sills done at the same time. See sig. It shouldn't be a problem.

I did mine 6 or 7 months ago and didn't even use plastic primer and there are no signs of peeling or flaking.

Sounds like they cant be very good, I would go somewhere else.

It sounds like they don't want to do the job - take your money to someone who wants it.

Glad to hear all yours are still OK - the garage's comment made me worry.

Skins - did you have yours done in Somerset? I'm not too far away, so if you had a good job done, let me know!

I had the same thing from the local paint shop. They didn’t want to paint the black. They said they paint would peel off!

Looking for another paint shop to do the job

He had it done at the place i recommended in my village - Bodyline of Nunney, cheap and a decent job too. They did my first Coops sills.
