I lost my policy details when i moved house and i ust rung up Direct Line to ask them when the policy runs out as i knew it was soon.

23rd October !!!!

Direct Line cant renew my car as they wont insure anyone under 25 with mods, and with my FMIC sitting in the hallway and a 3" exhaust coming soon, that rules them out . Time to call round it would seem.

time to get a folder for your car stuff and put your insurance policy inside it!

Also why didnt they contact you to send you your renewal documents through? Unless they didnt have your new adress and you hadn't got your post forwarded.

Sideways a LOT

Surely you should inform everyone like that when you move They probably would have tried to wriggle out of paying had you had to make a claim, especially if something happened while at the new property

Well it will hold out in as much as he's still guilty of driving without insurance.

Earlier this year I contacted the AA to change my insurence from my old Astra to the Seat. Policy had run out almost three weeks earlier. Granted it was my fault but they had not bothered to send any renewal information

Thankfuly the Policy on the Coupe is fully comp & covers me third party for any vehicle not belonging to me, the Astra was registered to my wife.

The AA were rather miffed when I said I didn't wish to insure the Seat with them

Gone Audi mad!

Bob I think you will find that your third party cover for any car that doesnt belong to you still needs to be insured by someone..

Other wise you could insure a mini fully comp and then drive a ferrari registered in your wifes name

Apart from the usual risks of being uninsured I'd be wary of the new policy the cops have of seizing uninsured cars on the spot and sending them to the crusher. Long walk home, points, big fine and no car.

If you're driving a car using your 3rd party entitlement then there is no requirement for it to be insured in somebody else's name unless you plan to park it in a public place.

You can, therefore, insure a Mini in your name and drive your wife's Ferrari, but only if the car really doesn't belong to you and your wife is the main user.

Very good loophole. Also good for limited mileage policies. If they ask why there is more miles on the car that stated, you can declare that your friend has been using it occasionally and doing long journeys. Your insurance doesnt cover him hence the mileage isnt attributed to your policy. Job done!

As for the 3rd party cover, you need to be over 25 (on the most part) and its for emergency's not continual use. So if someone gave a statement saying that you were always driving it then you might be screwed.
