Hi there, isit true that if you buy a head unit from the USA that the RDS function on the radio work iun other countries?

Does the same apply to radios bought in the UK?

THanks

U.S Spec radios have different frequency spacing to European spec ones.

In Europe all FM frequencies are available between about 88-108 Mhz, in the U.S.A. they only use the odd decimals, 90.1, 90.3, 90.5 etc.

A.M. frequency spacing in Europe is 9kHz, in the U.S.A. it is 10kHz, so you can forget that completely.

The U.S equivalent to RDS is not compatible with European RDS.

Some U.S. spec car radios can be switched or hacked to Euro specs but most cannot.

Any car radio bought in Europe will receive all U.S. FM stations, the reverse is not true.
