Trunk badge is just secured with foam twin stick - some hot water (or hairdryer) should warm it up then prise it off with a credit card or blunt penknife (taking GREAT care not to scratch the paint!). Any fading of the paint may be T-cut in if its not too bad (never had any fading on mine).

As for the bonnet - its held in by two nuts underneath the bonnet - you'll need to unscrew these and lift it off once done, although you will have a recess in the bonnet where the badge was (and two holes) so only worth doing this if you plan to either replace the badge with something else, or get the hole filled.

I used the old hairdryer trick to take my rear badge of. As for the bonnet the coupes getting a bodykit fitted at the minute so I asked the bodyshop to sort this for me (the bonnet was badly stone chipped so needed respray anyway).

what about the 20v turbo or 16v turbo on the b pillar. How are they held on?

These are held on by a combination of trim tape, (like the boot badges), and locating pins. If you remove them, you'll be left with a coupe of holes in the pillar unfortunately.

Am I alone in wanting people to know that my Coupe is a FIAT?

I really enjoy cheesing off the owners of more expensive and supposedly more exotic cars in my "crummy and unreliable" brand car.

It's not like I'm driving a Hyundai!

I'll admit that when someone asks me what car i drive i'll say like "oh it's a 2LITRE TURBO fiat COUPE"

As soon as you say the word Fiat they conjure up images of Pandas and Tipo's and the like. I try to quickly follow up with "it's designed by the legendary ferrari designer PininFarrina" to try and get them back on the right track.

But u just know that they wont be persuaded until, firstly u've showed them the car (in my case i am a student so just showing the car is enough to get a good deal of envy) and then, and most importantly, take em out for a drive!

Most of my friends know what a Fiat Coupe is now that I've had two of them. One of mine and my other half's friends from uni bought a Sprint Blue 20VT this summer too - we looked like we had his and his cars when we met up over Christmas. I guess this means that the people I care about are educated already... and the rest don't matter!

That's not really true, is it? As far as I know Pininfarina designed the interior and the wheels. The car itself was drawn by Chris Bangle at Centro Stile Fiat.
Pininfarina built the cars though if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah the body is designed by another guy, and it's only the interior thats PininFarina designed. But all the cars were built at pininfarina.

Just tell them it was hand built at Pininfarina. No need to say anything else and its 100% true!

If I am perfectly honest if it wasn't for the coop I don't think I would go anywhere near Fiats. It is not a particular marque that incites a feeling of great motoring heritage although others in their group do The coop is a bit of an anomaly for Fiat especially in recent years. It is a truly fantastic car yet I honestly believe it would be better if it had an Alfa or Lancia badge on it. I removed the badge on mine for two reasons 1. I think it looks better 2. People admire it and walk all around it trying to determine what it is... more mysterious. Without the badge there are no negative connotations of the Fiat name and it allows for the car to be more exotic. Fair enough if people already know what it is but for those that don't Anyway, each to their own but I am not proud to own a Fiat but I am a coupé

Good point. Also it is so much easier to have it removed, if you're respraying the bonnet, and stick it back on (by grinding the locking pin off the back) if you don't like it badgeless than to not remove it and wish you had later on.

I'm quite happy to acknowledge Fiat for designing, and selling, the Coupe. No other European manufacturer would have been anywhere near as bold.

And as for Pininfarina, well the build quality of the Coupe is (in my opinion) exemplary given the car's selling price, and they did a fantastic job on the interior and other styling bits. But other projects they had a hand in, at the same time, were not so good. Look at the Pug 306 convertible - yeah looks pretty enough (with the roof down) but that is the worst car I have ever driven. Horrible.

So well done Fiat. I thought about removing the badge as yes it does look good debadged. But I'm happy for the people to know it's a Fiat (at least they know it's italian).

Better way to remove the rear badge is to use a piece of fishing line to 'cut' through the glue holding the badge on and then remove any remaining glue with some soapy water - avoids any risk of damaging the paint

That's what I did, and then put on a brand new badge to replace the old faded one

My current Coop is debadged front and rear, at first I didn't like it, I thought the front looked naked. I have come to like it now, and as Flea said, I notice people staring at it, trying to work out what car it is.

Where does one get new Fiat badges? Frankly i prefer the new circular FIAT logo on the front instead of the slanting rectangular ones found on Coupes. I dont mind debadging the front but would replace it with the circular one.

Might as well tell them it is a Ferrari then!

I just tell people I have a fiat, I don't care what they think! I have owned and driven lots of fiats, alfas and lancias and dispute the fact that fiat has no heritage. Lots of quality past fiats such as 124 Sport/Rallye, 127 GT, 131 Sport, Stada Abarth and loads more.

I am an Italian motorhead though - Strada Abarth always more enticing than a Golf GTI to me!

Anyay - I removed the rear badge because it looks crap. Poured boiling water over it then simply peeled it off. Front badge, wheel centre caps and steering wheel badge will stay though!

hornet18 - Fiat of course! Usually crop up on Ebay as well.

You can have mine for a fiver. It's brand new and I've only taken it out of the packet to inspect it. I bought it when I debadged mine and was going to grind the lug off the back and stick it on but can't be bothered now.

I do exactly the opposite - just say I've got a little fiat. Even more funny when they think their BMW 320 / 330CI is the fastest car on earth..... How many times have you taken someone for a drive and they've been left speechless?

Agree with Flea's comments on FIAT in general though!

I'm proud to drive my Fiats. So, badge on.
Got the new one at the back, centered. See: http://www.garaget.org/?car=1476&image=80138

Yup! The swedish forum is down AGAIN.
Really makes your weekend dull and booring.... ;-)
Thank god fccuk is up and running supplying you with your daily fix of Coupé essentials!
What? Did someone say "get a life"? naaaah.... thought I heard something...
We have to move the forum to a save host.
Maybe we could use the same as fccuk?

And while your at it, don't forget to dismount the rear wiper as I have done.
Gives you that clean look! The way Chris Bangle wanted it!
This pic should make it obvious:

Phil_20VT - mine had the same sticker (and one in the rear window!). Mangoletsi is a FIAT dealership (so not as exotic as it sounds...) and the sticker will come off really easily; really hot water and fingernails are your best bet, but once its hot it just slides off....
