As some of you will know my coupe is smoking at the moment and even so I am 90% sure it is the turbo I wont take the plunge until I know for certain following a comp. test next week. As I wait I may aswell decide which turbo to go for while I am waiting. I am torn between Barbz's GTiR or superspool T28 hybrid both with uprated actuator. Since 95% of my driving up here is on B roads I was thinking that the T28 would be better suited as it is rare that I hit over 100mph. Is this a wise choice or is the GTiR just as good for accel. but still hold boost a little better up the rev range? Any advice either theoretical or from personal experiance would be greatly welcome. My basic set up at present consists of Gtec chip,FMIC,decatted milteck exhaust and straight induction mod with ramjet all controlled with HKS boost controller.

By the sounds of it you will make better progress using a superspool with the quicker spool up but it also depends on the way you drive as well and what reliability your after as it is still a journal bearing turbo at the end of the day No offence to barbz work with it at all as i havent heard of one failing but i would still be looking towards a roller bearing for long life usage Have a word with Barbz for best advice to be honest i reckon

I`ve got `Barbz`s` stage 2 rollerbearing turbo, great unit, only a tiny more lag over standard unit, but a far better wallop mid range, and above 5000rpm it is far far stronger

I see that the GTir is rated between 280-320 bhp where as the t28 is rated 280-300bhp so not a great deal to choose from.Do like the idea of very little lag mind you.

totally missed that post. Must have slipped under the radar. Thanks for pointing it out.
