Really sorry to hear that mate. A**holes! My first coupe got done outside my house and know how sickening it feels. They were probably drunk?

There are some real b@stards in this country. Unfortunately they know they can do it and get away with it. If they were caught and made to regret their actions, by being birched say, then not only would they not do it again, but maybe they wouldn't have done it in the first place. A dumb animal only fears pain.

I can however recommend Halfords touch up pots. They are a very good match, and while it wont look perfect it will cover the unsightly mess. If they don't have your colour on the shelf then they will mix it up for you.

Either way I hope you can get it sorted.

I can join you in the sentiment…

Last Friday night I went back to my parents house to have a meal with them and the Girlfriend. On the way home driving down a busy country road, some little fccuker in an on coming car throws an egg at the car. Suffice to say it scared me and the G/F half to death with egg now all over the window. Immediately hitting the wipers and using as much washer fluid as I could to get it all off.

Seeing as I was already on route to the petrol station I knew I need to get the majority of the egg off before I got home. Garages being garages I knew I could rely on the Water/Air supply to be working – NOT! Four bottles of Volvic water later and the majority of the egg was washed off.

Being pitch black when I arrived home, I gave the car another wash – Really fun at 11pm, and I could feel some damage to the bonnet. Looking Saturday morning there is now a lovely egg shape scuff with the paint broken.

Sometimes I just feel like giving up trying to keep my car clean and tidy.

Noone has touched my Coupe yet. But a Mondeo I used to own was attacked on a regular basis. The worst was when someone managed to scratch down to the metal every panel on the drivers side and knock the mirror off.

I know it was only a Ford Mondeo but those pr%cks cost me a lot of money when it was pxed for my original Coupe.

Can you dig your nail into the scratch? If so its doubtful you'll be able to do a whole lot i'm afraid mate. Get some Scratch remover, which is like slightly harsher T-cut, use this first, then use T-cut, then use polish and a 1st-class wax - that should hide it pretty well.

Check out mine here

It's not the best picture of it as its not what i was trying to show. You can just about see it starting over the rear wheel arch and carrying along right under the wing mirror. They even walked back for seconds I spent hours working paint renovater into it and got rid of it in patches, but in places its 1mm thick bare metal.

Absolutely powerless to stop it . I now park the car between others at night so people don't have to walk near it. I'll just get doors knocked into instead now though...

Ditto, you'll damage the laquer and it will look worse. All coups inc solid colours have a clear laquer. Don't use T-Cut

What should you use to get minor scratches out then? I have this autoglym paint renovater. It works wonder IMO. I got lots of scratches/blemishes out with it. Polish over the area after and it looks fine...

Does T-cut work differently? I've never used it....

Do you use heat lamps? I have not tried spraying the water based yet.

As agreed with others Farecla is the best, however if they've gone through the base coat then

Heat lamps.

Nope not on a full paint job, paint will end up on the floor!

I thought the water based might take longer to go off and might need some direct heat.

no air only at 28*

Its air pass dried, the heat is needed as your still using HS laquer.

If you put heat to the waterbase it destroys it.

Remember the waterbase never dries!

Hoggers, no offence intended here, and I don't mean to suggest any of this applies to you, but ...

I sometimes dream of keying someone's car. The ones who park diagonally in the supermarket, taking up a space and two halves. The ones who park in the spaces reserved for the disabled . The ones who roll up to the supermarket entrance and park right there across the zebra crossing. Sometimes they leave their hazards on, as if that made it okay. The ones who get to their space by ploughing through pedestrians.

I am just saying this because often, not in this case, there is a reason for getting a car 'done'. And day by day I am teetering on the edge of being a doer.
