Last year, my modifications cost me about £250 - £300 on top of my £450 at Adrian Flux (something to do with an MS90 conviction kinda worked against me too)

This year, just before renewal date, I had a flyer from Liverpool Victoria with a requite that looked a few quid cheaper than my renewal.

Stroke of Luck #1 - the quote only gave me 3 years NCB - I have max, so quote dropped by about £100!

Stroke of Luck #2 - I mentioned my extensive mods - they asked me to list them all (just as well I'd written them down, I always miss some when I try off the top of my head)

Big turbo
Uprated Intercooler
Chargecooler
Chip
Exhaust
Boost controller
Fuel pump
Air Filter
6 speed gearbox
Forge Dumpvalve
17" ProRace1 alloys
2 strut braces
Uprated discs & pads
Uprated antiroll bar
Uprated shock
Uprated springs
Extra gauges

And how much did that little lot add to my cover?

Nowt

Apparently, due to my "mature years", the modifications incurred no loading, as I'm apparently far more sensible than the normal perception of "modifications", which tends to comprise a snow-plough front bumper, 19" alloys with Taiwanese tyres and three grand's worth of ICE.

"ageist"? - yup, and lovin it!

That's the funny bit Dave

What turbo do you have Nigel and how big is it?! I can't remember if you mentioned it at Powerstation or not.

LV wouldnt even give me a quote on a 20VT, said they don't insure under 30s on that car.

My quote for under £500 from bell direct soon put the smile back on my face though!!!

Sideways a LOT

Quite right too. Under thirty year olds have no business owning a Coop. Leave it to us old fogies to appreciate its mature latin charms and sensual allure.

Not actually sure exactly what my turbo is - I think its a GT28R - it was direct from Turbo Dynamics, and uses the spec most commonly used by Barbz. the actual compressor and turbine housings were both much bigger than standard - enough to need some creative panel beating on the manifold heatshield.

I just need to get a bigger downpipe without the standard V band adapter to let the turbo work properly

I was with Admiral before I transferred to HIC to get trackday cover. Admiral quoted me just over £400 with mods, and I am 37. Having said that, the quote was comprehensive cover for social use only, limited to 6000 miles a year, so not sure what they could do for an everyday car used for commuting and business.

I'm with admiral currently, i didn't think they would be that relaxed with mods, and i only want social cover and cover for about 3000 miles a year, not interested in track day cover......... yet ! is there any other insurers that are worth getting a qoute who cover mods ?
