Hi all, I have a 1998 20vt, which has now very tired suspensions which i'd like to replace with something more sportier, but at the same time, i like comfort.
Ideally i would like something that falls in the category of "fast road use" car, which I'm always a huge fan of.
Any suggestion on what would be the best option? i don't mind spending a bit more for quality
Osravs are the go-to suspension solution for those that don't want the compromise of coilovers (and their associated maintenance requirements). Osravs are straight replacements for the OE shocks.
That said, simply replacing your tired suspension with OE-spec shocks will make a massive difference to ride quality, control and handling - don't discount the standard setup just becuase it is 'standard'
Following an advisory at the last MOT I'll be replacing shock absorbers. Having researched suspension on the forum, especially your posts Nigel, I'll be going the Bilstein B6 Sport route. Look forward to feeling the difference with my car now on nearly 150,000 miles.
Are the front Bilstein B6 still available anywhere?
Personally I found the Bistiens very crashy, had them on my car some years ago, one gave up after just a few thousand miles. I’m back on standard set up. I also run my tyres at 35 psi front this does make a difference for comfort, after reading on here on achieving a more comfortable ride.
