Hi all, I have a 1998 20vt, which has now very tired suspensions which i'd like to replace with something more sportier, but at the same time, i like comfort.

Ideally i would like something that falls in the category of "fast road use" car, which I'm always a huge fan of.

Any suggestion on what would be the best option? i don't mind spending a bit more for quality smile

Is that more of a upgraded stock setup or different setup entirely?

Osravs are the go-to suspension solution for those that don't want the compromise of coilovers (and their associated maintenance requirements). Osravs are straight replacements for the OE shocks.

That said, simply replacing your tired suspension with OE-spec shocks will make a massive difference to ride quality, control and handling - don't discount the standard setup just becuase it is 'standard'

Following an advisory at the last MOT I'll be replacing shock absorbers. Having researched suspension on the forum, especially your posts Nigel, I'll be going the Bilstein B6 Sport route. Look forward to feeling the difference with my car now on nearly 150,000 miles.

Are the front Bilstein B6 still available anywhere?

Personally I found the Bistiens very crashy, had them on my car some years ago, one gave up after just a few thousand miles. I’m back on standard set up. I also run my tyres at 35 psi front this does make a difference for comfort, after reading on here on achieving a more comfortable ride.

Hi Andrew, can’t remember the name but I have Monroes they suit my needs now. Loads of threads on here about suspension as you’d expect all with different requirements.

Thanks for the answer, I did not notice it until now.

I was actually thinking to go for coilovers as ideally I might want it a tiny bit lowered, probably 30mm max at the rear, the front on mine is low enough, but it might be due to very old suspensions.

I'm not looking for proper racing stuff, but something that makes it better around the country lanes but would still keep a good comfort on the motorway. I will give a look to the osrav and associated springs

In the end, given they're not that much more than Bilsteins, I've purchased a pair of adjustable OSRAV shocks from Zagato Lancia.

That's what I'm hoping Kevin. Can anyone advise what springs I should buy to go with the OSRAVs? I'm not wanting to lower the car.

If your existing springs aren't broken, just old, they might well be 20mm shorter anyway from age. The OSRAVs will give you plenty of adjustability to get good handling control, you will be more likely to set them on the soft side of their range.

Thanks wink. Delivery won't be until September as the factory closes for 3-4 weeks holiday in August. ATM, likely to go for lesjofors coil springs.
