Alongside my battle to replace the cracked gear lever housing, I have been taking the opportunity to refurbish some of the 'tired' items.
My Cam cover has certainly suffered over the years and was looking very pitted and grubby, so decided to see if it could be improved. I started with the plug cover, just in case it didn't work, but have been surprised an pleased with the results.
Here's the before ...
After a sand down with 180 and then 240 grade Wet & Dry which at least took the pitting down to an acceptable level, it was given 2 coats of a high temperature brake calliper spray paint. Paint was a quite reasonable 7€ I thought. I sanded the lettering before spraying and masked the letters individually.
For an hours work, I'm pretty happy ... here's the 'after'
Now waiting for new gaskets before refitting.
