Son-in-law saw one now he wants one.

Has anyone experienced owning one?

Any feedback will be most welcome before he parts with the cash.

Hi Serg, my partner had one for 2 totally fault-less years.

The version she had was a 2012 pearlescent 200bhp and it was competent in all areas and the level of equipment very good and produced to a decent spec too.

She would have still had it but we both found the seats very uncomfortable on anything above a 30 mile journey with both of us suffering back-ache on the fortnightly trip to Yorkshire and back.

In summary great car, nice engine and quality fittings with decent performance on skinny tyres.....if you can stand the seats!

My Son-in-Law is 30, so far without any back issues. Maybe this might develop if he decides to buy one.

It appears there are a few seat designs, hopefully he will put comfit high on the list of requirements.

More I look into this car, more I like it.

I have a mate who went from a RX8 to GT86 and he loves it. Very competent very chucanle and very predictable. Being N/A there’s not a tremendous amount of scope for increasing power bar a manifold, but that’s not the point. Owned it 3 year has not issues. Standard Toyota!

I don’t think your son-in-law would go far wrong.

I really like the look of them,it's just the lack of power against the cost I couldn't live with.

Power in road cars is overrated.

I can see you're point but if people track thier cars, then power helps.

It does a bit but a car’s apex speed rarely has anything to do with the car’s power. And any fool can drive a car quickly in a straight line. Give me a sweet-handling car that you can throw into corners with conviction over a car with simply lots of power. Power flatters to deceive and often masks a lack of talent on track.

I can't disagree with any of you're post.
But I see a sweet handling car being driven to its potential is only any good on track.
My thoughts are based on the amount of traffic on uk roads(country lanes) it would be really stupid to speed,in fact more lethal than going very fast in a straight line.

Lots of power and sweet handling must be the best combination on track at least.

But hey! We're not all driving gods,I tend to just brake at the last second and hope for the best.

My turn to agree with you. Which is why my road car is neither the most powerful nor the sweetest-handling car I could have bought because, ultimately, the traffic and potential hazards on the roads will always just frustrate. And I often have the biggest grin on my face trying to make the “kids’” 69bhp Fiat 500 go quickly as it hops and skips on its “eco” tyres.

But it’s also why I think the GT86 is a great idea - a relatively modestly powered RWD coupe set up for some fun without being viscious. Same goes for the MX-5 - brilliant little ca and very capable on the trackr. It’s a bit of a shame that the “Powah” brigade understand neither very well.

I'm lucky enough to have a bit of both. A reasonably powered fiat coupe which is track focused.
And a Clio 200 rs for the road.

But my Toyota pick up armchair is the weapon of choice most days.

The GT86/BRZ is nippy rather than fast but they are very easily tuned. Turbo and supercharger kits are available and very popular. They can be made very quick for not too much money.

Check out Fensport.
