It's time for my Daughter Claire to choose a new company car. She's had a Audi S4 which was originally meant for a director for the last three years so it will be a bit of a let down.

She can choose any brand & any price but 1.6 ltr maximum engine size. and 124/155 CO2. (I think she said confused ) They're not allowed to add extras either so the guy that looks after cars there say go with one of the big boys so you already have all the extras fitted.

I had a look on some of the web sites and engine sizes seem to be an afterthought. Page after page about leather and colour and emissions and this that and 'tother. I couldn't even find out the engine options for some of them. crazy

So - over to you lot smile

Go.............

edited to add - I quite like the look of those Infinity Q30 's but that might just be me lol.

I would guess that Seat might offer a good combination of performance and equipment. But I freely admit that I'm only basing this on a hunch!

Well a car on manufacturers websites is a nightmare. Engine sizes seem to be some kind of guarded secret and you have to click through loads of stuff and start configuring your car before you find out what options are available. crazy

Claire has decided, since the car is largely her office and she drives about 30k miles a year, to go for an SUV type vehicle. so she's considering the Audi Q2, The Kia and Hyundai offerings Sportage & Tucson and the Seat Ateca.

I think any of those would fit the bill nicely smile

Tucson: The 1.6T petrol is a nice drive for an SUV. Lack of steering feedback irritates me but one can still manage "the fun twisties" reasonably confidently. Grip is fine and safe. The brakes are very reasuring and light but easy to modulate. It is surprisingly fast up to about 100 mph (so fine for the UK and even rarely embarrassed in Germany smile ).

However, those CO2 values you listed may rule it out. Is it going to be a petrol or a diesel? The 132 PS 2wd petrol version was too lethargic for me but even that was refined and these cars feel much more expensive than they really are. Ours is a fairly basic 4wd but still has all the essentials. The higher models are quite luxurious. The 19" wheels look good but the standard 17" ones are probably the sensible bet.

The Sportage is basically the same car with a different body and we liked the looks of the Tucson better.

To find detail of car ranges, I download the brochures and look for the tech pages. Configurators are only marketing tools to extract more money from the customer smile

Edit: Infinity Q30 = Mercedes A-Class
