Nice to see low milage cars still popping out from the mist. Personally i'm baffled why anyone would restore a low milage car? Its great to see them preserved for what it is. A painted cars a ten a penny, you can't buy originality.
With that milage, only been sat for a while, can't see it needing a clutch? Parts for these cars i find reasonable, many jobs you could do yourself.
Price wise, all you list can be done for way less than 4k. What would you spend 8k on? Well, you could spend it things it didn't need or want but why?
Throw a cover over it and forget it, spend the 8k on an already sorted car or something else you favour. I can't get my head round these high resto cost.
The black LE I have for sale had been off the road for the same amount of time, everything has been done, looks like it came out of a box and cost under 2k to do.

I'd only consider spending that sort of money if I knew I'd be keeping her for a decade or two and I'd focus on preventing rust more than anything else.
But a good quality respray £2.5k, underselling, wheel refurbishment, belts £500, brakes, bushes, hoses, engine and gearbox oil, flush, maybe some CV boots and other bits maybe another couple of grand. Not sure where the other £3k is going. And as stated in other replies, half this stuff won't need doing on a 22k miler.

You maybe right Definitely needs respray Boot lid dented, p/door dents and a few scuff , bonnet has been resprayed and looks different. It wasn't washed and hasn't been covered for years. No rust though. My mum bought it with 9k on clock , she put on 11k in 10 years. I love driving it..
Re alternator.. started first time , left it idling for 5 mins then decided to check electrics turned fan on ... it started pulsing then battery light flashed on and off .. Battery flat .
Thanks for advice

It would probably be advisable not to restart again until you have had the belts done.
No need to get everything done in one place, for belts you have PowerItalia in Basildon (assuming they are still there, I haven't been for a while) or take it a little further to one of the other specialists such as FCSS. They will also sort out brakes and other running gear. You can then use a really good body shop to get the panels fixed and painted. Agree with this. Take it in to power developments in basildon for belts etc and a good once over.

Need to change oil urgently too. It'll be extremely acidic by now.

From a distance and having never seen the car, it is hard to know whether 8k is expensive or not. Good restoration is very expensive and the majority of the cost will be contained there. Maybe some parts don't need changing, but if they are stripping the car to do welding and painting, may be dropping in a few new parts is just hoping to avoid doing them in a year or two's time. The question is of the "how long is a piece of string" type. So it depends if the OP wants the car to run OK or if he wants it to be as close to new condition as is possible without going mad.

Thank you all Very interesting... Having another quote today. From an Alfa/fiat specialist, very local. Good garage when I had my GTV ( years ago )
On another topic , can you buy the LED rear light upgrade off the shelf ? If so where.

Not sure about those who say it shouldn't need this and shouldn't need that! The fact of the matter is that these cars are coming up 20 years old if not already 20 and regardless of mileage age just like everything else. My coupe had less that 31,000 on the clock and had one now retired tax inspector owner for the last 17 years and kept in a garage. Within a week the clutch was slipping and the turbo smoking more than an Amsterdam coffee house.......Why? Lack of use and parts seized up etc. I spent £21k on my nuts and bolts restoration on top of the £8k purchase price and that was absolutely everything replaced apart from the engine itself, so I can see how easy it would be to tot up £8k. That said and someone just said it above in this post, I intend keeping mine for the next 3 decades or so, if I live that long so it's a lifer! If you feel it's worth the investment for personal use and not to try and make money (you will never claw back your investment), then I say go for it and happy safe driving

The work JBT has done for me wasn't cheap but will help the car stay on the roads years into the future and is worth it to me. It's a subjective thing so lots of opinions but ultimately what is best for the individual

Here's a test.... ....ask them how they're going to change the belts If the answer is "engine out" then you're looking at a possible £800+ extra for the labour - there's a good chance they don't understand coupes that well too. I understand your desire to keep the work as local as possible but as has been said on here countless times you're better with a specialist that understands the coupe's idiosyncracies.

It also needs a thorough inspection in all the usual areas suspect to corrosion.. It may only have 22k on the clock but it's still 20 years old. Exactly

Oh! I didn't realise clutch could seize up on a parked Coupe. Clutch plates can seize onto flywheel and cylinders can seize too, not to mention the bearings. Anything with moving parts can seize and not using a car can present more issues than driving one daily
