I was wondering how to increase resale value of any Coupe?
What kind of Coupe will get the best sell price?
Completely original? Added Le Bodykit? Original color or custom color? 20VT alloys? Lowered? Different seats?
I have a 1.8 16v steel grey project going on and I was thinking of respraying it to Electric Blue which in my opinion is the most beautiful color on Coupe besides Pearl White.
what are your opinions on resale add-ons?
I'm going to restore it, and in about 3-5 years sold it onwards so that will save enough money to buy a 20VT....

Clearly you have remarkable taste in colours.

Modifications are generally considered undesirable, at least in the UK market (I don't strictly agree with this but that's a different discussion). To fetch high values you'd need to be selling a particularly good, well maintained example with plenty of paperwork to back it up. Endorsement from a known and respected specialist wouldn't hurt. Patience as a seller is important to maximise returns, as is advertising in the right places.
Much as I do not want to dissuade anyone restoring one of these fantatic cars, I'd be surprised if you can do so in order to be profitable in such a short period of time. If your goal is to own a tidy 20VT, might be best to get one of those, while good ones can still be bought, then put in all the hard work. Spend time and effort on one you love and intend to keep. Do so knowing that you'll probably spend more than you'll ever recoup.

Coupes haven't yet got to the point where you can restore one for a profit.

Let someone else do the spending and buy one that's already had all the hard work done (or maybe one that's so good that it doesn't need any work)

however, prices for good Coupes are rising, so it would probably be a mistake to wait three years for a 20vt. You would be better off directing your efforts into overtime at work in order to buy the 20VT as soon as possible, before the only ones left are the VERY good ones and prices are out of reach

To many people you have the least desirable coupe model,so resale price after spending money and doing work on it may come as a disappointment.

There are still a fair few lhd 20vt models in mainland Europe so you could wait a couple of years and still get one,but the condition may be poor if you wait a long time.

I think you guys missunderstood what my question was in the first place.
I cannot afford a 20VT as they go from 3000€+. There is only 1 20VT in Croatia for sale for 2600€. Ans that's the cheapest.
But I'm getting off track.

My question was how do restore my Coop (as currently is in bad shape) so that when I sell It I'll at least get my money back?
Should I keep the original paint or go different more attractive?
LE kit or not? Sport suspension or not?

I've seen 1.8 coupe go from 1500 to 3000€ beeing really in good condition.

I payed about 600€ for my coop + 200€ with a spare engine. I'm going to respray it, make AC work, full service etc.

Im going to "invest" max about 2000€ into being me& my friend will respray the car.

So my inital plan was:
-full engine service
-respray (maybe Electric blue)
-LE bodykit
-20VT alloys
-lowering springs
-retrimed Hyundai front seats
-new exhaust system
-sport brakes

I have most of these parts in already my garage so it's all about work and study....
This is how my coupe looked when i bought it...it was very neglected...

Your best option is to restore it to factory spec and keep it's originality. If, in 3 years coupe values have increased it is most likely that original cars will command the most money. To put it another way, if you were looking to buy a Nissan GT R32, the early ones, climbing in value quickly. Which would you want to buy now ..... a modded and changed version or an original one? Which would you feel is a safer bet spending your money on?

I get the impression that Coupe values in the UK and the rest of Europe differ some what, however I agree with the comments on here, which are true for the UK Coupe market, ideally you would restore it to as standard condition as possible, including colour.

If you want to enjoy modifications then you could fit parts that you can remove before sale and then sell the modifications separately. For example the sports exhaust, brakes, front seats, 20VT wheels etc. This does depend on whether you have the space to keep the original parts or not.

The respray to blue is effectively irreversible as are the LE kit, however if you really want these things do them and enjoy the car for the next 3 years in the spec that you wanted, it is your car right now after all, not the persons who you may sell it to in 3 years

We do understand your question and wish you well in your endeavours. It's all about perspective. You have a 16+ year old Fiat (which off the bat is a hard sell to the uninitiated), it's in bad shape and has the 1.8 engine that you as an enthusiast don't wish to own yourself. We simply don't know who would contemplate buying it but that's possibly due to ignorance of the car market in your locale.
You're asking a UK based forum for advice how to maximise it's value. We can only do that based on our tastes. We're unanimously of the opinion you've very little chance of turning a profit. If you can then you have the talent to be restoring or modifying other vehicles with even greater chance of success.
As you've already got the parts, it seems you're committed. Please let us know how it pans out.
