Many of us will donate a quid or two to the Poppy Appeal each year, but I've recently read a post on Pistonheads about something a bit different and I thought it was worth re-posting here.
I was really taken with the story behind these Poppy pins - made from the brass shell detonators that are still being dug up from the fields of the Somme 100 years later
http://www.poppyshop.org.uk/somme-1916-poppy-lapel-pin.htmlThe package includes a card detailing one serviceman who died during the Great War - be prepared for the room to get "a bit dusty" when you do some research....
Makes our issues with keeping old Fiats on the road seem rather insignificant.
