Just messaged the seller and he is going to run it up to temp to get an oil pressure reading.

Seller messaged me today saying the oil pressure drops to 2.8 bar when up to temperature.
I wonder if the ticking noise was the manifold blowing?

As a rough guess ... and from description and mot history
what sort of money would be needed to make this a
Nice LE ?

^ my red LE is also needing a repsray to make it mint, and needs attention to belts / service as it too has been stood for 2-3yrs. tyres, springs etc could also have settled so these may need to be factored in. my car has been dry-stored so hopefully underbody corrosion should only be surface.

no idea on the eBay car, but for comparison, I am assuming a minimum of £5-6k as my budget for #1097.

Mines just sold on ebay for £1500. Fully sorted with mot loads of mods with new cambelt and clutch turbo etc. A home respray let it down. This Le is already at more than what mine sold for and needs another £3800 throwing at it.

I think you're probably ball park for most. I'd factor more for a respray and a lot less for the suspension work (assuming you're doing some of the part gathering yourself).

what about welding, wheels, centre console, engine and turbo issues?, clutch etc. I think 7k without the respray would have this back to former glory but then you can add on another 4k for a windows out respray too chinny

My respray was £2400. Front / Rear screens left in. Painted underneath rubbers. £1500 will get you a spray but very poor prep work.

Agree with respray estimate. £1500 will be a very cheap spray job, £2-3k is where a good job will be by removing boot lid, doors, bonnet and front a rear bumpers. I have a quote for a respray for my Coupe, from someone i know and his quality of work and that is £2750 including SBP&P all 4 wheels.

1700 plus VAT for mine, but I did all the panel and trim removal and refitting myself. Front and rear glass left in, but everything else off.

Who me?? I've sold nothing? I'm just sitting here behind a Mac typing stuff in Azerbaijan thumb

It should be well known by now that the majority of Coupe's that come up on eBay are, let's say, subject to needing a lot of work and further expenditure. Not always the case, but generally it is the case.

It's no surprise that many are un sold and many are resisted - usually due to people bidding without looking and finding a reason to pull out. It is also a possibility that the cars advertised on eBay are there as the owner is fully aware of the cost involved to make it good, and the funds are not available. I think it's called off loading... These problems simply won't go away, someone, needs to pay to fix them.....

When a good one comes up, it's generally sold very quickly and many of the good ones never even reach the BAY. They are also sold without any real advertising on the usual suspect sites.

It's my opinion, that the best cars will be found from the forum or from a specialist.

The owners are conscientious and have invested in their cars and looked after them. The site helps them fix the common issues and members use the site to find the best advice going forward with repairs and what to install/replace.

The trouble is that these days, the good cars from the good owners, are simply not being put up for sale.....
