I have a styling question for all you Coupe owners laugh

The summer is comming and I currently have a styling question.

Basicly I have 2 choices:

-Keep Ultrallegeras 18" with spacers
Or
-Buy new tires for 20VT alloys + spacers

Pros & cons

Ultraleggeras 18"

+better handling
+looks better?-appearance
-higher stance
-"firm" ride

Original 20VT-s

+lower stance
+softer ride
-worse handling?

Ultraleggeras look very nice on the Coupe...but with Coilovers? I currently have Apex - 40mm suspension.

Also I have a 2 moths old son which I would like to take for a ride something..not sure how he will handle the firm ride on the 18" crazy

I have a picture with ultraleggeras here:

After my coop is finished it should look like this

But don't know if this Coupe has Coilovers or eibachas/ Apex?

You know, it's hard to listen to anyone else when you want to mod your coupe .... but for me, against those alloys, I'd stick to stock alloys.

If you increase the rolling radius with the larger alloys this will result in longer gearing and technically slower acceleration.

I really don't know whether the handling would improve with the larger alloys.

What ever you decide pop up the photos on here smile

same here , standards look to small nowadays and going for a larger wheel their is minimal rolling radius change if you go for the right size tyre .

old tyre

Tread Width - 225
Profile Height - 45
Wheel Diameter - 16

Overall Tyre Diameter - 609mm

new tyre

Tread Width - 215
Profile Height - 35
Wheel Diameter - 18

Overall Tyre Diameter - 608mm

Difference in Diameter:

percentage = -0.16%
actual = -1mm

18s all the way for me, but I wouldn't go with 35mm profile...far to harsh.
go with 40mm profile...

Cant go with the 40mm profile as the tires are to big...it scrapes the arches.
Also I already have 225/35/18 tires on it so...

The main reason I am thinking about selling ultraleggeras and If I get lucky and get 500€ for the alloys and tires. I'm thinking about investing that money into respray.Because it desperatly needs one. ( in my opinion).
It's scrathed from the side, the paint is peeling of, stonechips on the hood and bumper, dents...etc.
I've been saying that I would respray it for nearly 3 years now and newer got the money...(Everything ends and starts with that anyways)

The bodykit and respray would cost me about 1200€ which is probably cheap, but that is because my Father-in-law has a painting booth and he also resprays cars.
So basicly I'm just paying for the material.

Also maybe in few weeks after respray I'm considering "diamond polish". It's the best polish by a know firm in Slovenia (Poliglob) and I know the owner. He said that this polish gives the laquer almost the strenght of a glass. So it's very recommended for cars who travel a lot, and also for someone who likes his car spotless.

I definitely won't be spraying in the same "Moon Grey" as the paint is much too boring...it more suits a VW GOlf than a Coupe.

When the Coupe is complete it should look something like this.

Yes I know it's a red le, but I love everything about it.
The "titanium" healights color & wheels, and rear light cups. The red/black center caps. Old Grill. cool

Original I have 205/50/16
611mm total diameter / 102mm tire thickness

225/35/18
615mm total diameter / 78 thickness

215/40/18
629mm total diameter / 86 thickness

Winter tires
205/55/16
631,9mm total diameter / 112 thickness

I bought winter tires because they are standard diameter and much cheaper.
The best tires Continental T805 cost only 83€ and they were the best in winter test.

I think the best tires would be 215/40/18 for 7x18 alloys?
Or are they too big?

Because I think 225 seems too wide for /inch wide alloys...
