Has anyone purchased HID's from HIDS4U? Im looking at the 55w Pro Max kit here

I have a kit already fitted which I paid £25 a couple of years ago from ebay. They look bright but the projection of light on to the ground when driving is very poor. On unlit roads with no traffic I might as well be driving with my side lights on.

My 10 year old van is better with just halogen lights fitted

Or is it the age old issue with the light covers. I have sanded them down though

It may need some re-alignment of the beam Richie? Take it to any local garage that MOT's and they can check this for you easily....

I have these ones from ebay - HID kit. They're good, no problem with beam pattern.

Wink,

Which ones did you Get? - H7's for the dipped (main driving beam) ans they look to have the same base fit (insert and twist to secure) - and the bulbs fit ok length wise. ?

did you get anything for the Full beam too ??

I guess two additional HID power Packs (Each side) of the bonnet - would be alot of weight to lift (even with new gas struts huh).

Could be the next purchase on Ebay for me wink

It was MOT'd in July but they didn't say anything apart from it having aftermarket lights fitted. I'll go and get it checked though just incase. I rarely use the car at night. But if I do it's like having candles up front!

H1s for dipped beam only. They take a few seconds to get up to full illumination when you first switch them on, not a problem on dipped beam, but not so good for main beam. There are loads of similar kits on ebay - just make sure you get the ones with slimline ballasts.

These are the ones which I have fitted at the moment clicky
But as I have said before are useless. Thought id see if anyone has purchased the lights from HIDS4U.
Don't really want to spend £20 on something which is just as useless.

Richie007

Chap which option did you go for K rating

as I am looking at inserting a pack - but ideally want a higher rated K number - ie 10000K

what were the ones you bought and inserted into your coop. ??

wink

were the ones you have bright enough chap ? 4300K doesnt seem to high for a HID pack.

I was contemplating 6000K 8000K or 10000K
purely for light speak and colour - closer to brightest white than tinted with blue.

after safety - not so much the looks of them. - As when it Rains here - man you cant see sh*t of the road markings etc.

The K refers to colour temperature not brightness, which is measured in lumens. 4300K is more yellowly, similar to OE halogens, but also gives the brightest light.

6000K is more daylight white with a hint of blue and is the one that most people go for, but is not as bright as 4300K. If you want maximum brightness, look at a 55W ballast instead of 35W.

In Switzerland I would imagine like in other parts of mainland northern Europe that the homologation police would frown upon colour temperatures above 6000K. 8000K maybe and 10000K definitely would be no good, too purple. All sites selling HIDs should provide info like this on colour temperature (K) and brightness (lumens)

I purchased the £26.99 job on ebay which I linked above. They were 6000k 35w. Its a nice white light. But not bright at all. The reach of the light on the ground in front of the car is like someone with a touch.

I was thinking of spending more (hopefully higher costs means better quality) and getting the lights from HIDS4U 55w 5000k at £90.

Haven't got them yet wanted to see if anyone else has them

I bought a set of 55W's ages ago but still haven't fitted them, I've not found that the 35W's I have are that bad, but they are almost as old as the Coupe and cost over £200 from the US before China started making them and were not "plug n play" like they are today, with extra wiring, individual relays and large ballasts being used. I have modern style 35W 6000K fitted to 2 other cars and they are bright enough as long as the headlight lens is clear (no clouding up of the glass/plastic, and not dirty!)

With the Coupe, drive up close to (say around 5 metres from) a wall or garage door (white if possible) and you should see a really clear cut off between light and no light. The old fashioned way of setting beam height was to mark the position of the centre of each light on the wall, drive back a set distance (eg: 5m) and make sure that where the beam kicks up is lined up vertically below the marked points. It sounds like your headlight covers are cloudy/dirty and/or the beam alignment is way off (too low).

The old HIDs I fitted fried the height adjusters, but modern ballasts have better screening, but I would check the beam height/pattern first before buying the 55Ws.

i'll get down the garage. I've sandpapered the lights which are clear but still lots of highline cracks but they appear to be within the plastic so I cant do anything

I just fitted some 35w 5000k hid from eBay. Best £25 I've ever spent. Totally transforms the night driving experience and make the car look so much more modern

I bought a kit from HIDS4U some years ago. They were good quality but in today's market they seem expensive.

Have to say I don't know how they are so cheap on eBay now as a decent set of halogen bulbs costs more than the HID kits which come with all the fancy ballasts, wiring etc.

I've purchased a pack of the 8000K HID 35w with mini balast packs, We'll see how much happier I am when theyre installed.

I'll keep you updated once I get the car back from the maintenance.

I've sanded my lights down again over the weekend has made a difference but the lights are still very poor. They are nice bright white light. But the reach on the road are very poor. I would guess the distance the light produces is around 10foot of road lit. The light goes further but not of any use. Where my 6 year old van with normal halogens might produce a more yellow light but the range is so much further. My other car which is 4 years old is just in another world. Or am I just comparing a 20 year old car with something a lot newer

Have you got the lights aimed correctly? There are some screws on back of light to adjust up a and down and left or right. Sounds like yours are pointing too low
