Corridor of Uncertainty
We moved into our new place 3 weeks ago today and got our landline number a few days later. After receiving several calls asking for a mobile hairdresser, I have now realised that it is neither prank calling nor a sign for me to change career. We have been allocated a number belonging to a local business. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons I can't phone them to tell them, and there is nothing online that suggests that the business is no longer operational.
I suppose the next step is to contact plusnet customer services... again.

I had a similar issue a few years back - lots of calls for a lady including some from the local GP. Seems they don't have to wait long to reassign the number

Think of it as a business opportunity Jim!

I knew a photographer who had his business number used by a very popular cruise ship company. And they'd printed it in 100,000 brochures.

He did quite well out of it.
