OK my LG 42" Smart TV decided to pack in last night despite it being only 4 years old. Flickered then No Signal and now I only get a Red light flashing and the LG logo screen. Does not respond to anything. Do I look in to fixing - google suggests the Main boards go on these at £26 each and look simple to replace or do I just get a new one? Seems prices have tumbled - I want bigger than 42" with Smart capability for YouTube etc. and HD with Freeview / good sound etc. I don't have Sky/Virgin just bog standard freeview. Tesco have a 55" LG for £550 - about the max I want to spend (but do I really want another LG!) and Currys have a 50" JVC with a free wireless soundbar. Any reccomendations appreciated.

I can't help you with main boards and such, but if I had an LG that packed in after 4 years I wouldn't be looking at another LG to replace it. Get a Panasonic, they go forever.

I had an LG do a similar thing on me and it was just a capacitor that had blown. £5 bag of assorted capacitors from Maplins and a steady hand with a soldering iron and it was fixed.
I found a how to on-line.
