Hi folks
I'm cooking Christmas dinner for 12 people this year, just going for the traditional turkey with trimmings but have found out one of the people coming is one of the awkward veggie types.
I don't want to cook something completely different, I'd like where possible to do a veggie gravy and put something or other with the remainder of the dinner.
Question is.. what could I do for the 'something or other'? Any veggies here have any suggestions? Would also rather not go down the quorn route if possible!

Lidl do something like a 3 fish roast for £5 something. I noticed it in Lidl earlier, but didn't take that much notice as I hadn't read this thread Looks quite nice and would be ideal for a vegitarian and I'm sure it wouldn't go to waste as the non veggies would probably enjoy it too Either that or Asda do a nice range of vegetarian stuff like mushroom burgers, etc. I'm not a vegetarian, but I still enjoy eating what's condsidered vegetarian food Just had a look online. It's here

The thing with fish is that... It's not vegetarian. Some people eat fish but not meat, but they are NOT vegetarians!
Lucifer, if you go down this route, it would be worth checking first! Lol If they aren't true vegetarians, then can I recommend Asda's Cauliflower Cheese crispy grills, Cheese and Spring onion crispbakes, mushroom crispbakes or mushroom melts All lovely There's loads of stuff to choose from: http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webstore/landing/home.shtml#/search/vegetarian

Hi why don't you try stuffed peppers, you can put rice or cous cous inside them.

All you have to do is buy Qourn roast for about £2.50 and substitute the meat on his plate for this with vegatarian gravy .Saves you alot of time and hassle . Tesco used to do a two in one roast but we cant find it this year . Quorn also do a steak pie which is my favorite at the moment .

If you go to a health food shop or Holland & Barretts, they'll have a chilled/frozen section with a choice of vegetarian mains. They usually do a Christmas one, a fake turkey roast, which comes with pigs in blankets!

I always like hearing about vegetarian roasts, sausages, steak pies etc, it's a bit like a weight watchers bun, you want the proper full fat version but.....
I'd go with the nut roast thing, but any vegetarians I know are so anal about cross contamination they'd want to keep everything away from any meat incase it got too close!

A lovely big tray of mixed veg in olive oil, roasted in the oven, with crispy chunks of sage and onion stuffing. Chicken (flavoured) gravy made from granules. Delicious!!

Would you like a steak tainted by fish cross contamination ? I dont want to eat vegetarian food if its been in contact with meat . Then theres no point in being a vegetarian .

Here is the recipe: 8oz whole shelled (unsalted) peanuts 2oz flora 2 onions, chopped 2 small dessert apples, peeled and diced 1oz oatmeal 1 tsp chopped sage salt, pepper 1 egg A little milk
Grind peanuts. Heat flora in a pan. Add onions and apples, fry until soft. Add peanuts, oatmeal, sage, salt and pepper. Bind with the egg and just enough milk to give a moist consistency. Press into a greased one pound loaf tin and cover with greased foil. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
Sorry it's all in imperial, I am old and can't get my head around metric!
