The power comes from the head unit and is not suitable for a subwoofer. Best to run a separate decent cable fused run direct from the battery or fusebox.

I have just done this job... and will give a few more details.
At my local car stereo shop I bought a pack of auto leads. This included several large gauge wires and all the fixings and attachments needed.
Taking the large gauge red wire I tried to feed it through the rubber grommet on the right hand side of the engine bay. It did not however come through into the car but instead went behind the wing panel.
After a small struggle to undo the bolt at the bottom of the panel (door open and a selection of flexible sections onto a socket) I removed that panel and there is a round rubber grommet behind it which does lead directly into the car.
Poking a hole in that grommet and feeding the wire through into the cabin I replaced the wing again. One end attaches to the + on the battery, fuse goes within 8 inches of the battery... wire comes through into the cabin.
Next step is fun with carpet. The power cable was fed through under the carpet... rear seat out and under there and through a small hole in the metal behind the seat. It goes to the amp, or capacitor if one is being used.
Remote wire needs to go under the carpet too and to the head to turn the amp on and off. Earth cable bolting onto a bare metal point. Signal cables should be kept separate to the power cables to avoid interference.
I have done everything now except found an accessible wire to take power from that is on with the ignition and off without it. (to attach the remote wire to) I am sure this will be the cigarette lighter but I haven't got the dash open yet to hook it up.
As stated above the CD changer cable is not suitable, the amp can draw a hole lot of power and unless it is a decent quality heavy gauge wire it could get hot and cause you a problem.
