Got the coupe out today to put some fresh V Power into her, also called into local auto shop for some bits, was delighted when a young chap said "lovely motor, does it shift" I replied " it does ok" I was just about to drive off when a couple in their 40s? Passed and the lady stooped to look at the wheel centre caps and said to her partner
" it's a Fiat " in amazement

I was once complimented on the colour of mine (sprint blue) ... Always nice to get positive feedback regardless of how big or small

My Porto blue used to attract more attention than my current Rosso Red.... Porto was more of an unusual colour I guess.

When I was filling up on Friday evening a young dude with his cool motor, blacked out windows and music pumping shouted over, 'awesome car man!' Guess I must be in with the kids now lol.

Brilliant! I've not had mine very long, and never have I experienced so much peculiar driving around me.
Cars will fly up to the bumper to try and make out the badge, then slink off to a reasonable gap.

Or you get overtaken very slowly and can clearly make out the discussion about what car it is.

Then there's mondeo tdci man who does both of the above.
Then attempts to leave you in his trail of thick Black smoke and dual mass flywheel clatter.
You just smile and look smug in Italian coolness.

True story.
A couple of years ago we had a couple of workmen in updating my sons disabled bathroom. They were there one night I came home from just having MOT on the Coop. They were loading up their van when I pulled up, it was dark & I was obviously happy with a ticket for another year. They asked why was I so happy, informed them of my good news......... smile

The older of the two said quite seriously no problems there with it's first MOT though. Genuinely in the dark he thought it was a modern car.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

I had a similar thing although with the pug 406 I had a few years back.
It was an s plate saloon and I was picking up some oil rig workers that had flown in from the US.
Think papa bear from the movie armageddon.
He looked at the puegeot and said "brand new" in a slow deep South accent.
He was amazed when I told him it was 11 years old.
But then american cars have always been 20 years behind everyone else.

That's true I hired a jeep when on holiday to the states last year. The jeep reminded me of a ford transit from about twenty years ago it was awful. To be honest my coupe felt modern compared to it

Aye, although a little out of date, when I lived in the US 4 years ago, I had an '09 Dodge Challeger S/T (5.7lv8 push rod hemi), Jeep Liberty (3.7 V6 SOHC) and a Dodge Grand Caravan (3.8 v6 SOHC).

The 2 V6 engines were horrible, unrefined, and generally low on power. The V8 was pretty good, but again unrefined at the top end, and archaic in engineering terms. Suspension wise the Challenger was like driving a sofa. Certainly no sports car, and the other 2 were clearly designed to cross the prairies in as straight a line as possible. Interiors were functional and strong, but not particularly designed!

My Coupe is very very refined in comparison, but then again was probably designed after the US trio!

Had this at the local pub the other day. It was late afternoon and me and the boy had popped in for a bite to eat. We had parked the car outside and were the only two in the pub. A few minutes later two blokes came in talking about the car parked outside. It was fun to hear them taking and discussing what car it was.... One bloke went outside to look more closely. He came back into the pub and said "It says FIAT on the steering wheel, Pininfarina and 20VT on the side"

His mate wouldn't have it "It's not a F******* FIAT"

I had to pipe up and say "it is indeed, just a Fiat" hehe

No compliments from my wife on the coop, as far as she is concerned it's a noisy, money drain smile

Since i have bought the mini to run about in it's been sursprising how many people have asked "Where is the Fiat ?, i hope you you haven't sold it".
Mainly people on the same industrial estate to me, people i have never spoke to before.
Same story at the Tyre Warehouse, "where is the Fiat ?"
Parents neighbours "Where is the Fiat ?"
But everyone keeps saying hold on to it, it's rare & going to be a classic.

Well i've only had my latest coupe for a couple of weeks, but it's already attracting loads of attention;

- neighbors and random dog-walkers when washing the car, asking what it is! Telling them it's a 'Fiat Coupe' seems to confuse them even more!

- A guy in Halfords' car park yesterday wandered over and just started asking about the car, mentioning he used to own a number of Fiats in the past.

So not bad in 2 weeks of ownership smile

I remember being at my parents washing the car as 2 young boys walked past.
I heard one of them say "cooorrr he has got a nice car" and the other boy replied "it's probably his dads"
